This was a very enjoyable audio to listen to. It was full of all sorts of interesting facts and exciting stories. I liked how it told about the evolution of the game over time... from how people played to the evolution of the equipment itself. All sorts of fun facts are included such as how many stitches are in a baseball to who was the tallest player to ever play and who threw the fastest pitch in baseball history. If you enjoy baseball you will love this audio. Highly recommended!
Although I'm not a huge baseball nut, I thought this would be a fun and timely read as baseball season kicks into full gear. I was not disappointed. This book covers a huge amount of baseball history in a relatively short space, with a fun, conversational tone. As a casual baseball fan, I especially appreciated learning all about the traditions surrounding baseball. Now when I watch games, I feel like I have a whole new appreciation for what I'm seeing. I highly recommend this for casual and avid baseball fans alike.
Having lived in Boston for 5.5 years, I didn't give myself the chance to attend a baseball game locally. This year, I decided to invest more time to learn more about this sport. This book gives me a thorough view on all aspects of baseball and playing this sport. I also enjoyed reading the strategy part of playing baseball. Although I don't see myself playing baseball in the future, the knowledge I have obtained from this book has helped me better understand baseball and how to watch baseball (something I have always wanted to do with my family) and analyze the players' moves, too. Overall, a great intro book!
The story of baseball is filled with a whole lot of interesting stories and facts! This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys baseball and wants to know little facts and trivia that many people might not know. I recommend it for any baseball lover whether it's you or someone you need to buy a gift for!
Baseball is one of my favorite games and after listening to baseball audio book I decided to buy this book so as to know the game better. The audio book is very interesting and Joshua Mackey as usual delivers the message! Baseball is flexible enough to include any number of players in the field and cuts across any social and economic grouping. Its a controversial sport and spuns around all kinds of theories and news over the years. In the past, players used to make their own bats. Professional rules changed in the 1990's outlining bats with sort of flat ends and maximum diameter of 2.75 inches and bats have been revolving around those specifications. Chapter 2 on the history of baseball was my favorite, learnt so much from the history. Dont miss out on this stories, grab your copy now and have fun listening to the book. Kudos Ace!
The part of "Baseball" that made it most enjoyable was when Joshua said, "If you believe in yourself, your teammates will believe in you. If your teammates believe in you, then your coach will believe in you. If your coach believes in you, then you have a life-long ally." I just loved it because it tells that if you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too.
What I liked best about "Baseball" was when Ace said, "Keep your head in the game!" It's just important to think about what you are doing, and how you will do it.
This book on baseball is basically a self-help book that helps you learn about the game, so there were no actual scenes.
What I really enjoyed best about this story is when baseball was explained the following way, "How those who want to learn the game can get inspiration by the examples of real players who have pursued a dream, watched their dream crumble before their eyes, and then persisted with dedication and hard work to attain success."
"Interesting historical baseball guide"
I really enjoyed listening to this much more than I thought I would. I wanted to get a better idea about the game as I am dating an American and wanted to be able to understand more about the game and its history.
I found that it really explained how the game has developed and adapted over the years. I particularly found it interesting about how much change the ball itself has gone through and all the different materials that have been used over the years.
I love all the trivia, facts and stats throughout, like the history of team names and I found the section on player traditions and superstitions particularly interesting.
Great guide for beginners of baseball enthusiasts.
"Passionate baseball history that you love to hear!"
"Baseball History" is worth to listen many times as very informative, engaging and nostalgic story about baseball.
I like the best history of evolution of the baseball as a game, especially the equipment like a ball and a bat. Very descriptive and informative chapter how are made baseball tools, what technology is used now and in previous generation. Wonderful journey back in time!
I enjoy the most chapter about baseball culture, where I find out how funny and clever are baseball player nick names like Piano Legs, Three Finger, Oil Can Boyd, Biscuit Pants, etc.
Also some names of baseball teams are very amusing like Pittsburgh Innocents, Chicago Orphans, Boston Bean Eaters.
I was very emotional during the heartbreaking chapter about Adam Greenberg, the Major League baseball player. He was hit in the head on his debut and suffered skull fracture and needed a long and difficult rehabilitation. Thanks to his high spirit and motivation he was able to back to the field and be even more successful.
Very good audio book, full of interesting details, book of baseball records, funny and amazing facts that keep you stay interested and puzzled. If you a baseball lovers you absolutely must have "Baseball History". Great idea for birthday and special occasion gift.
