EH… Way too many unneeded details on unimportant things

Unfortunately the series lost steam … what started out as an interesting storyline about women who had lived through the horrors of earlier wars either as nurses or as a partner to someone who had gone through it as a soldier quickly became a book filled with way too many descriptive terms.
It’s like the author ran out of steam and just looked for stupid things to expand on that had no correlation to the main story at all … who cares what butter smelled like cooking in the pan…
Also it seems that this woman Benni became weaker and weaker as a series went on.
A police chief’s wife would not have crumbled as she did when a shooting occurred …
She seems way too dependent on the other men in her life to keep her strong — when in the past the character was much stronger.
I am Done with this series…
Evidently the author was too because she never wrote another !
I wouldn’t waste your time
