Too complicated... I think.
This story doesn't have a simple and elegant plot like the first one did. The first one focused on how two strangers became friends, acquired an alien artifact and used it to save the world. Simple, and elegant. This is just another of Tip and Jay-lo's improbable adventures, forced into a happy ending by luck, and an oddly specific series of events.
