Publisher's summary

When Detective Kate Rosetti is startled awake in the middle of the night by a phone call from her mother, she knows it’s not good news. It turns out Kate’s father, the notorious Angelo Rosetti, is missing. There are no witnesses and no leads, and with only a week to go before Christmas, Kate hopes to find her father before the New Year.

As Kate begins the hunt for her father, she gets another case added to her plate at the precinct. A local man is gunned down in front of the neighborhood co-op. The fact that he was shot five times points to a story darker than that of a happily married suburban husband.

Kate dives headfirst into both cases, determined to wrap them up before the Christmas holiday. However, when too many coincidences begin to reveal themselves, Kate worries the story may be more twisted than she could ever imagine.

Excellent series.

I hope it has just only begun for Kate Rosetti! I really like the character development, the narrator and the personality of the protagonist. Can’t wait for more! Also appreciate the twin cities accuracy ;)

Great intertwined paths

Narrator did a better performance in this story with distinctive cadence and character discernment. I really enjoyed the descriptive dialogue throughout.

Unlikable main character

The plot is good, but unfortunately, the main character, Kate, is so self-righteous and sanctimonious, as well as oblivious that she’s very difficult to enjoy.
