Publisher's summary

From the internationally best-selling author of The Golden Cage comes a bold, mesmerizing thriller of seduction, deceit, and female power, in which a woman’s secret cannot stay buried forever.

Faye Adelheim is living a delicious lie. She is wealthy beyond imagination, she is the Chairman of her self-made global cosmetics brand, and her ex-husband, the monster who killed her beloved daughter Julienne, is living out the remainder of his days behind bars.

But unbeknownst to journalists, police officers, and investors, and even the lovers she occasionally invites to her bed, Faye has a secret: her daughter is, in fact, alive and well and so is her mother, the woman Faye’s father was sentenced for allegedly killing years ago.

Together, three generations of women have survived in hiding from the men who sought to destroy them. But unfortunately for Faye, cages are meant to be opened, pillow talk can lead to betrayal, and secrets always end in tears.

Good but name pronunciation drove we nuts!

The story was good with fun twist. Tonya’s voice is pleasant. The way she pronounced the different names like Chris, David, Irene…. Drove me nuts. Maybe it was how they are pronounced in other countries? I just found it irritating.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo meets First Wives Club

I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I know is I love this author and British narrators. The story was much more about corporate espionage than anything. But being a female listener, loved revenge angle. Would highly recommend. Also, as a bonus, very sexual in a surprising and delightful way. Hope there’s a sequel.

Love this author and book

I usually don't write reviews and am picky with books but this one kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Highly recommended!

Unbelievable characters. Unbelievable plot.

I love this author but she went off the rails with this book. Between her need to promote and defend three way sex as a way to give a loving gift to your partner to having the main character a serial killer, it was difficult to know who to root for. She wants us to believe in a country the size of Sweden that no one from her past life would ever recognize her even though she is one of the country’s billionaires. All the twists and turns are predictable, trite and uninspired it’s as if she didn’t have her heart in writing this book but was just borrowing every hackneyed concept and going through the motions of completing a manuscript. Shallow and soulless The ending assures there’s a past three in this series —-too bad .

Disappointing

Too much luxury brand-dropping…we got it after the first two or three! Cliched, unimaginative writing style. Psychopathic main character…not much to relate to.

A book so full of clichés it took my breath away

The reason i picked this book wast that i had read others by the author and found them entertaining and suspenseful. This was neither,
and I can only guess that the constant introductions of ludicrous sex scenes were supposed to divert the reader from this sad fact. I found basically nothin there to recommend. One of the worst books i have listened to in the last year.

Not up to her usual standards

I really miss Lackberg’s Fjallbaka series and wish she would return to those characters. It was hard to like Faye and, based on the ending, are we due for yet another book about Revenge?
