Publisher's summary

In the ninth installment of the award-winning Maine Clambake Mystery series, Julia Snowden and the Snowden Family Clambake Company return for another case of mystery and murder in Maine - this time, Julia must uncover the murderer of an oyster farmer.

When oyster farmer Andie Greatorex is robbed of a bucket of oyster seeds worth $35,000, she comes to Julia Snowden for help. Who wants to sink Andie's successful business? Is it a rival oyster farmer, an ex-employee, a neighbor who objects to the oyster cages floating on the beautiful Damariscotta River, a lobsterman who feels pushed out by the farm leases, or someone from Andie's personal life?

Then Andie turns up dead, floating by her dock in the SCUBA gear she wears when harvesting her oysters. Julia's head start puts her in a perfect position to help her friends in the Maine State police major crimes unit with the investigation. But can Julia make sure the right suspect gets sent up the river before she ends up in a watery grave?

Another quality mystery Cozy by Barbara Ross

I love when I can enjoy a fun mystery and learn at the same time. Ross weaves in Maine culture in each of the books in The Maine Clambake series. Shucked Apart was no exception! She masterly wove in the mechanics of oyster harvesting into the story plot. It was entertaining and so very interesting. Even though the ending was not what I wanted I admire Ross’ bravery. I look forward to what’s next for Julia .
The performance however.., I will only give a three. I am a Mainer and Damariscotta was mispronounced over and over again! It made me nuts!!!

Love this series!

I have been adoring this whole series!

When a friend of her boyfriend needs help finding who stole from her, Julia Snowden is roped into helping. She is reluctant but decides to help out. When she finds this friend dead, can Julia find the murderer before anything else happens?

I have truly enjoyed reading this series. I've been powering through it for the past week and loving it. I love Julia and her family. I love her boyfriend Chris. And I love Julia's relationships with everyone in the town. I find Julia so relatable and so much fun to read about. I liked the mystery in this one. It was a bit predictable but at the same time took me completely by surprise. I was upset by the end of this book. I don't like the resolution of something and I'll have to deal with that. But I am looking forward to the next in this series!

Unhappy ending

How do you leave a relationship like Julia and Chris breaking up to the end of the book?
Hopefully there’s another book coming that will give better closure than that.

Reader is Not a Mainer

I enjoyed the story but was disappointed with the reader’s mispronunciation of Damariscotta. It seemed like it was said a hundred times, and each time it irked me.
