Publisher's summary

From New York Times bestselling author Bernard Cornwell, the second installment in the world-renowned Sharpe series, chronicling the rise of Richard Sharpe, a Private in His Majesty’s Army at the siege of Seringapatam.

"The greatest writer of historical adventures today." —Washington Post

Richard Sharpe. Soldier, hero, rogue—the man you always want on your side. Born in poverty, he joined the army to escape jail and climbed the ranks by sheer brutal courage. He knows no other family than the regiment of the 95th Rifles, whose green jacket he proudly wears.

Very enjoyable

I have always Cornwell‘s stories. Sharpe and the Saxon series are the best. Well worth the time to listen.

Sharpe!!

Cornwell is spot on in his stories. What a perfect follow up to Patrick O’Brien and Aubrey and Maturain

Not Enough Sharpe

Too much of the story is taken up with a detailed accounting of a battle, which at times was tedious.

Excellent story

Excellent voice acting with an excellent story. The first novel is a little slow to start but the stories pick up nicely. Enjoy!

Great Stuff!

I can't believe i haven't jumped on listening to these books sooner. Frankly, the books have only one issue in my opinion, that being the battle sequences are sometimes hard for me to follow. That said, i love the voice actor and narrator. He does such a great job voicing sharpe, and everyone else. Truly very very good.

It gives an interesting view into a rarely (atleast for me) seen period of history and warfare, with a great story, likeable cast of characters and a main character you cannot help but root for. Villians on either side of the conflict are fun, but i do note that they felt a tad bit more flat than the villains in the first novel. Still, a hearty recommendation from me.

Another exciting Sharpe adventure by Cornwell !

Cornwell has become one of my favorite authors.

After listening to hundreds of audio books I was struggling to find something that was interesting, especially since Audible heavily caters to women and woke authors. I then ran across the Shape series by Cornwell. The series has become one of my favorites. Never a dull moment in the storyline and Farley brings each character to life so vividly it's almost like you were there.

2nd Time Thru . . .

Going back thru the Sharpe series. The characters are always entertaining altho the multi-faced battle scene often exceeded my ability to follow. Key stage in his relationship w both Wellesley and Obidiah. Al was an Exciting Ride!👍
