Your breath is a gateway to the vastness of the universe - and the path to your highest fulfillment. This is the premise behind Your Breathing Body, a landmark 2 volume breath-work curriculum from esteemed meditation teacher and Tibetan Buddhist scholar Reggie Ray.
Volume 1 presents an audio course with the beginner in mind. Volume 2 contains audio for the advanced practitioner. Blending somatic practices and breathing techniques from cultures and traditions around the world, Reggie gives you a practice-focused program that will show you how to "fathom your breath to its full depths" for physical healing, emotional balance, and, ultimately, the direct experience of who you are and where you fit in the cosmos.

If you want a 10 minute "breath like this" instruction, this is not for you. Its very thorough and packed full of supporting info.
The other reviews made me hesitant, but I am very pleased I chose it. The order of the tracks seems fine now. As a long time armchair Buddhist, I heard many gems here I had never before.
There is a saying that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. That was my experience with this book. This is the teacher I have been looking for after decades of seeking. His approach to spiritual practice grounds the awareness in the body in a much more powerful way than anything else I've tried, including other breath work and body-based techniques. In comparison to this, those other practices allowed (even encouraged) me to stay suspended in my mind, never really touching reality.
I got this book and started working the practices two weeks ago. So I'm just getting started, and haven't even done them every day. But already I feel--for the first time in my life--fully grounded in my body, and no longer reactive, anxious, and fearful. I'm sure there will be ups and downs along the way, but this path is the real thing, and Reggie is a true teacher. If you're a seeker, you owe it yourself to check this book out and see if this path resonates for you.
If you're already familiar with the fundamentals from Reggie Ray's website, this set covers most of that ground, but with a bit more theoretical background.
The chapter numbering is different on the Cloud Player and the download version. There are no separate tracks within the chapters so you can't just skip to the guided meditation. Technically, it's a bit of a mess over all because this is not a conventional audiobook in which you listen from the beginning to the end. On top of that, Audible.com's bookmarking function is not always responsive. Ultimately, since I can't create bookmarks on the iPod, it's lousy for daily practice.
Great book for expanding meditation practice but not the guided breath practice I was looking for. Lots of valuable explanation and instruction about how to use these different practices. This would be very useful for someone looking to expand their repertoire of meditation/ visualization techniques.
GOOD: Listner is incouraged to lay down and create relaxation in the body.
NOT AS GOOD: Author speaks fast and grumbley which is very distracting when trying to follow along with him.
If you are truly intersted in "breath work," and the astounding power it holds in everyday life check out Let Every Breath by V. Vasilev.
"Good introduction to the practices of this lineage"
Each chapter starts with some broad teachings, then the specifics of the practice about to be taught, followed by a guided meditation. I highly rate everything by Reggie Ray. This collection does spend more time on the theory. Very helpful. I personally slightly preferred his more recent Buddhist tantra series which has a greater proportion of time on guided oractice.
This is a wonderful collection of teachings combined with powerful meditation practices. I would highly recommend
