      "No PDF"
Would you try another book from Adam Robinson and Julian Fleisher and/or Adam Robinson and Julian Fleisher ?

How can I reference the new words without a reference guide to go by? I think it is tedious to go to a dictionary and research the words, to check their correct spelling. Can you provide the PDF files listing the words just as you did with the WordSmart 1?

      "very engaging"

I purchased word smart a few months ago. As one reviewer has already mentioned, some of the words presented in the audio book are a bit basic. That being said, there were plenty of vocabulary words were novel to me and, due to the dynamic didactic style, I learned the new words with ease and alacrity. Interestingly, now that I have assimilated many of the more obscure words into my mental dictionary, I seem to notice those particular words in speech and written form on a regular basis. What did I do before Word Smart??

As I alluded to before, the teaching format that Word Smart utilizes is perfect for my learning style. As such, I purchased Word Smart II and can say with sincerity, that I am continuing to expand my vocabulary just as quickly and easily as I did with the first audio book.

Book II is a worthy purchase. I would have rated it a five if the word list mentioned in the book was available for download.

      "Learning new words FAST"

This is by far the easiest way to learn new words fast and easy. Listening to the CD is interesting and fun. All the words are organized in groups with similar meaning making it very simple to learn and most importantly retain what you have heard. I purchased WORD SMART II in 2006 and find myself still listening to it. Perfect for a long trip in the car. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in building their vocabulary. Can't wait until WORD SMART III is out!!!

      "Great for GRE Review"

This is a great review for the GRE test. The material is presented in such a way that you thoroughly understand and can remember each new word. Or, if you are reviewing, it offers a great review. When you have read as much as you can in one sitting, this audio review adds the little extra. Some of the vocabulary is basic, but there is a lot of advanced vocabulary as well.

      "Just trying to hard"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

More vocabulary words, less cutesy banter.

      Any additional comments?

I learned a few new words, but about 90% of them are just too easy in this version.

"Learn new words, while being annoyed"

As a budding scientist, I am finding that I already know most words in this book. Nevertheless, brushing up on meanings never hurts. I like the reviews and context stories and have found that I remember the words afterwards--they have found their way into my writing already. However, I am very much put off by the script of the male and female narrators, and some stories. While clearly attempting to be engaging and possibly directed toward younger individuals studying for the GRE/SAT, this style does not suit me. In particular I find it hard to disregard the obvious sexist undertones (e.g., the female narrator is often scripted to adapt a dumb female role, while the male never is portrayed as dumb; one context story is all about pleasing a man and accepting his undomesticated desires). Additionally, there are some quips that are not sensitive to suffering from mental health issues and other difficulties. I must confess that I am a social worker and sensitive to these types of things...but to me this is unacceptable and distracting in the learning process. I am constantly rolling my eyes at the filler information between words, but overall I would recommend this for learning new words if you don't have the time to read.
