Drawing from her work as a psychoanalyst and cantadora (keeper of old stories), Dr. Estes uses myths and folktales to illustrate how societies systematically strip away the feminine spirit. Through an exploration into the nature of the wild woman archetype, Dr. Estes helps listeners rediscover and free their own wild nature.

"Her widely researched study offers usable advice for modern women." (Publishers Weekly)
yes, but not an abrigded one
not enough of the book to tell
the feeling the narator brings and the music
What there was -great
would have liked the full book
Only if I could get the "entire" book on audio, didn't realize this wasn't the whole book
Love her storytelling!
The way she tells stories
I'm REALLY disappointed that this was so short - is there another way to get the entire book on audio?
I read Women Who Run With The Wolves about two years ago. I was so inspired by the author's work that I made sure all my friends, men and women, knew about it. I think it is a must read, especially for women who feel a great need to rediscover and reclaim their sacred wolf bones in order to truly run free, without inhabition. Wild, like our nature. And especially for the men who love the wolf and want to understand her being and not capture her soul. I LOVE this audio. And the best part is Dr. Marissa Pinkola Estes narrated the audio book herself, now how lucky can one get?
This audio was much easier to listen to than trying to read the book, which I found very hard going. The narration is perfect and the stories brilliant. I loved it.

Brilliant. Working on listening to all of her books and I have loved each one. She is an amazing woman. 1ove.
This is the kind of work that will reveal more meaning every time it's read/listened to. This is particularly wonderful as Dr. Pinkola Estes is the narrator. Beautifully written, inspiring content, and well delivered.
Women who run with the wolves is my all time favorite book anyways. The audio version allows me to enjoy it on my commute. This is a great book to listen to when you need strength. Enjoy!
This Woman Clarissa Pinkola Estes is an amazing woman with an amazing gift of story telling with passion that motivates you to keep listening. When the book is finished you so wish it would keep going. Each of her stories have deep meaning that go right to your bones.
reading was changing pace all the time. At some point it was too slow to pay attention to the book.
The author has mastered the art of storytelling.
This was an outstanding listen and I highly recommend it.
An amazing read for both men and women. For women, this book finally makes sense of why our lives are the way they are. For men, it allows men a greater understanding of the innate beauty present in every woman. This is a book that every young person should read or have read to them. It explaines why every person is a unique individual and should be honoured as such.
"An amazing storyteller!"
Clarissa had me entranced! Love the interweaving of story, song and ancient wisdom. Can't wait to hear more of her work.
This was far shorter than I expected. It was not clear just how abridged it was. Having read the book many years ago I was looking forward to hearing the depth of the work but it stopped after two chapters. I wouldn't choose to pay this much for such a short version. Very disapointed.
"A book for the wild woman in all of us..."
Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a beautiful story teller. Every message she shares is done so with eloquence using tales of old brought magnificently into the here and now. I cannot recommend this enough.
"food for thought and for reclaiming oneself"
Clarissa Pinkola Estes uses stories and fairy tales as metaphors for societal and psychological patterns, and as vehicles that will reach our inner thoughts. Thing said in stories and poetic language that can bypass rational assessment and somehow resonate within us
This short recording addresses the need for women to shake our "good girl" domestication and get the courage to be ourselves, express ourselves, dare more, as well as the dangers in doing so, through stories.
overlaps too much with stories and themes that are in "theatre of the imagination"
