    "Excellent!"

I read Women Who Run With The Wolves about two years ago. I was so inspired by the author's work that I made sure all my friends, men and women, knew about it. I think it is a must read, especially for women who feel a great need to rediscover and reclaim their sacred wolf bones in order to truly run free, without inhabition. Wild, like our nature. And especially for the men who love the wolf and want to understand her being and not capture her soul. I LOVE this audio. And the best part is Dr. Marissa Pinkola Estes narrated the audio book herself, now how lucky can one get?

    "Really short"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I also have a new appreciation for the word 'abridged.' This book is difficult to 'summarize.' The audible version is a good overview, but I wish I knew that the stories would be missed. I would have spent this 2 hours reading my book book.

This audio was much easier to listen to than trying to read the book, which I found very hard going. The narration is perfect and the stories brilliant. I loved it.

I am a grower. A tangle of vines weaving round myrtle branch fences. Rusty metal, soft stone, and worn wood. Unkempt curls and knees covered in clay. I listen.

    "Powerful Words"
If you could sum up Women Who Run with the Wolves in three words, what would they be?

One of the most powerful works I've ever read. A combination of myth, reality and creative non-fiction used masterfully to tell the tale of woman.

What other book might you compare Women Who Run with the Wolves to and why?

I don't really think that there is a book that exactly compares, but I would say that it has changed my life in similar ways that books such as The Power of Now, The anatomy of the soul, and The Artist Way did.

What does Clarissa Pinkola Estes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a master story teller!

"Book is superb; Audible edition is a ripoff."

I didn't realize "abridged" meant only two chapters. The book is one of my all-time favorites. This audible edition is a letdown.

"I thought it was the whole book!"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If this was the entire book, I would have given it 5 stars.

    Any additional comments?

This was my first time listening to an audio book, so I had no idea that this was not the entire book. I see now I have to look at the hours. Very disappointed. I thought I could listen to this on my commute. I had to go buy the book to finish it because it was selected for my book club. Not a happy camper at all. Well, what I did listen to, it was very good. Not so good reading it, though. I had to think too much while reading it and go back and forth rereading paragraphs to get the gist of what the author was talking about.

    Any additional comments?

This was far shorter than I expected. It was not clear just how abridged it was. Having read the book many years ago I was looking forward to hearing the depth of the work but it stopped after two chapters. I wouldn't choose to pay this much for such a short version. Very disapointed.

An amazing read for both men and women. For women, this book finally makes sense of why our lives are the way they are. For men, it allows men a greater understanding of the innate beauty present in every woman. This is a book that every young person should read or have read to them. It explaines why every person is a unique individual and should be honoured as such.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a beautiful story teller. Every message she shares is done so with eloquence using tales of old brought magnificently into the here and now. I cannot recommend this enough.

And a great intro for newbies to Dr CPE's seminal work. She's the Elder you've been longing for your whole life, expertly relating archetypal experiences with essential practices for the revival of women's instinctual nature.

"food for thought and for reclaiming oneself"
Would you listen to Women Who Run with the Wolves again? Why?

Clarissa Pinkola Estes uses stories and fairy tales as metaphors for societal and psychological patterns, and as vehicles that will reach our inner thoughts. Thing said in stories and poetic language that can bypass rational assessment and somehow resonate within us

This short recording addresses the need for women to shake our "good girl" domestication and get the courage to be ourselves, express ourselves, dare more, as well as the dangers in doing so, through stories.

    Any additional comments?

overlaps too much with stories and themes that are in "theatre of the imagination"
