Ms. James narration was absolutely lovely, drawing me in, keeping my interest and yet allowing me to think and process the book's deeper message.
A simple and clear down to earth listen that gave me new perspective on holding oneself accountable while living life to its fullest despite the daily worries and stresses. Although an older publication, it's message transcends time and is just as pertinent today as it was when it was originally published.
I would absolutely recommend this book to a friend because it is so applicable to any part of life, especially in the work field. And, being in my early twenties, most of my friends and myself are at the start of new careers and I believe that listening to Brande's advice will be extremely helpful in this next phase of life.
Even though the book was written over 80 years ago, the advice still holds true today. And the narrator's pace made it easy to follow and enjoyable to listen to.
I liked hearing about how her mindset affected her productivity. And the narrator really made this point come across. It was like I was listening to Dorothea Brande herself.
I'm going to follow her advice and act as if it were impossible to fail. It is only when you aren't afraid to take risks that you will be able to fully achieve your goals.
This book was surprisingly useful and the narrator really made the advice come to life for me.
The performer had this "orator" type of speaking where she felt like she needed to enunciate every single syllable like a speech therapist. It was annoying because, it felt like there was no flow to the speech and distracted from the thoughts that needed to be conveyed.
Insightful, Clear, Beneficial
A wealth of good advise read with great clarity and at the correct pace. Ideal for to listening to in the car on your way to work.
