God gave us emotions to experience life, not destroy it! Lysa TerKeurst admits that she, like most women, has had experiences where others bump into her happy and she comes emotionally unglued. We stuff, we explode, or we react somewhere in between. What do we do with these raw emotions? Is it really possible to make emotions work for us instead of against us? Yes, and in her usual inspiring and practical way, Lysa will show you how. Filled with gut-honest personal examples and biblical teaching, Unglued will equip you to:

I am enjoying this book so much that I bought it in audio and both in paperback and on my kindle too. It is one I will read over and over. It is as if it was written just for me.
I am very pleased that Lisa read her own book for the audio, as I enjoy hearing the authors narrating their own books instead of someone else.
Lisa is so real and honest in this book, as she is in Made to Crave (another one of her books that is fabulous.
Keep up the good work, Lisa. I really enjoy your books.
I see that this book was written by a woman, but other than that, I didn't really see any indication that it was aimed at women. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough, or maybe it wasn't made clear enough in the description, either way I'm not pleased that I spent money on this thing. The time I spent listening to it, I didn't really care for the author's voice who decided to read her book either. Wouldn't recommend this book, especially for men.
This was a great read just before the holidays! Read by the author: who does a fabulous job, this book talks about keeping control in tough situations. A great book for anyone struggling to keep control of their emotions.
This book could apply to anyone who is looking at their life and want to improve their reactions and behaviors to everyday living.
Lysa provides some really good advice on how to deal more effectively in relationships. Some relational and spiritual books can go really deep and generate long lists of do’s and don’t’s. This book is NOT like that and keeps the suggestions short, simple and practical. Lysa uses lots of real-life examples of what to do, and not do, to help the reader relate to each topic. This is a "chick" book but I found it very informative as well. My wife and I listened to it together on a recent trip and were barely able to refrain from poking each other with our elbows when the material really hit home with us. Overall, a well written and read book. Highly recommended!
Keep the "rules" or "lists" simple. The book's continual mantra is to be realistic. Perfection is NOT realistic, but progress is.
This is my second Lysa TerKeurst book, and I was not disappointed. She is a very real and truthful person. She doesn't hide behind "spiritual" terminology or try to pretend that she has all the answers or has found all the answers. She speaks as an ordinary woman going through the throes of emotion as it comes at her throughout her day and her life.
She has really good suggestions for dealing with disappointments such as telling yourself, "Even if this happens, it will still be a good day." I liked the practical suggestions, but what I liked most is that she points us to God as a loving, understanding parent, confidant, friend, counselor, and example. Most authors don't get all of these attributes of God accross as well as she does.
I would listen again to Unglued. To refresh myself on the ideas and the skills she teaches.
There were many memorable moments in Unglued, however I do have to say I believe when she was praying over the woman who had just heard bad news seems to be sticking out to me the most.
The scene that is my favorite in Unglued is when she is praying over the woman who has just received bad news. And she can't find the right words to say, but she notices that when the name of Jesus is said, the woman slows her panicked breathing. So, all she does is start saying His name over and over. I just love that. And I have used that to actually calm myself, or "glue" myself back together.
The insight I have gained from Unglued has yet to fully be determined as I have just finished it. However, I know that I didn't stumble upon it by chance or by luck. It was a divine appointment. So, I would have to say, that is still unwritten.
This book is a top book for me when it comes to my life as a mom
Lisa was herself and genuine in her story telling. I could picture myself in every single one of her situations!
This is a book that I could have listened to in all one sitting. But I enjoyed taking it in bits in pieces.
Let's see...I laughed, I cried and I had deep thoughts...My only caution is to folks that are not Christian...this book is a Christian book and if that bothers you, you may not enjoy the read as much. That being said, the story is entertaining no matter what faith you choose to follow.
Yes! This book is full of so many truths that I'll need to listen to it over and over to grasp them all.
The open honesty of the author.
Herself! She is very real.
Think before you speak. Slow down and let God lead.
I wish I'd had this book when my children were young. I've recommended it to each of my 4 daughters that now either have children or are about to. Such complete truths abound within this author's story. I can't wait to listen to it again!
It made me laugh, cry and think very intently on my life and my reactions. Very well written.
