Coach Dungy has had all that, but he passionately believes that there is a different path to significance, a path characterized by attitudes, ambitions, and allegiances that are all too rare but uncommonly rewarding. Uncommon reveals lessons on achieving significance that the coach has learned from his remarkable parents, his athletic and coaching career, his mentors, and his journey with God. A particular focus of the book: what it means to be a man of significance in a culture that is offering young men few positive role models.

Tony Dungy reads his own words is a very easy to listen style. I found myself very engaged with his style and the life stories he shares in a very compelling package of lessons learned. This is the kind of material I found to be helpful, practical and relevant.
Hearing stories from a head coach inside the NFL makes his example stories interesting and so enjoyable you almost feel as if Tony is your new best friend. I also appreciate how Tony does not down play his personal faith and followings of Jesus and the bible. Yet, it has a ring of universal truth so that even if you are not aligned to the Christian walk, I believe this book talks to most people deep down where we all want to relate to one another.
If you wish you had a pocket personal or professional coach, I recommend this book. If you aspire to be a better person, Father, Mother, Friend, Co-worker or leader I recommend this book.
I was not familiar with Tony Dungy until I listened to this book. Now I’m a fan. Tony Dungy has restored my faith in role models that can make a different in people’s life.
I am not a football fan. In fact, I know nothing about the sport. I purchased this book because I am looking for a way to engage the men of my church in Bible Study. This book will be an excellent tool. Simple stated, but rich with spiritual truths, presented in a way that I believe will inspire the men, women and youth in our congregation -- whether they are football fans or not. Tony and Nathan have done an excellent job of communicating how Coach Dungy incorporated his faith and Biblical principles as the foundation of his NFL coaching "ministry." He successfully does so without compromising the intergrity of the Gospel. Not only was I personally blessed by Dungy's testimony, but this book has inspired to learn a little bit about football. Until now, I thought football was purely about physical domination, not having recognized the spiritual and strategic aspects of the game!
Tony Dungy provides many ways that the Christian ethic can help sportspeople. Moreover, his formula will help all Christian people to more fully appreciate life.
More men need to read/hear this book. There is more to being a "man" than just being a "male". It was easy to listen to and speaks clearly to the heart of manhood. Well done!
Tony Dungy lives a life that is not perfect, but a life that stays the course with his values and principles.
He offers great insight on many different topics with his own accounts and stories. This is a must and I will definitely listen to it again and again.
To sum this book up in a short review, Tony Dungy gives the listener many words of wisdom that you can apply to your life.
For a person who believes that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, it's refreshing to hear many stories told from a celebrities standpoint.
Tony does not cave into peer pressure. Neither should we.
It is nice having Tony Dungy narrate. His views on life, and the important things to focus on are excellent. I also have the physical book, which I would recommend, as most of the chapters have summaries, and the book is much easier to go back to review these.

This is an excellent book, very encouraging and inspiring. My husband is reading this book now and he couldn't put it down. He is too busy with work , but took the time to read this book. All young men should read / the audio was great!
This is a good book reminding us about what's important in life. It communicates that honesty, integrity and doing the right things are important. Good pick me up when we are all caught up in the rat race.
