I begin my sons sleep training at 3 months of age and he was sleeping 8 hours each night in less then a week of training. Now at 5 months old he sleeps 10-11 hours each night and he has been doing this for over a month. The only thing I caution to breast feeding mothers like myself is keep an eye on your babies weight. Part of Suzy's methods include fewer feeding in larger quantities. Although my son has always been healthy, happy and only appears hungry during his scheduled feeding times his weight in proportion to his ever growing height had gotten a bit slim. My method to this is to feed him 4 ounces of formula after his final scheduled feeding. My son used to have a terrible time sleeping, I can't tell you how liberating it is to have a good schedule!
I know I had my desperate moments when my son was 10 weeks. There were so many advises out there that I was willing to take any to get at least 3 hours of sleep at night. And I bought this book and followed this book's tips for two weeks(thinking that by the time my son was 12 weeks I would have been able to achieve my goal of having him sleeping for 12 hours). Looking back, I can't believe I deprived my son from eating when he needed and I didn't enjoy those precious first days. Yes! Now at 16 weeks my son is able to sleep without that horrible regime. Why? Because his little stomach grew and he can sleep longer and not because I starved him to follow a cold advise. All I got from this book was for my milk supply dwindled and wasted time and money. I hate this book.
The only struggle was disciplining "ourselves" to stick with the recipe. Our baby was onboard from the beginning and has really responded well to this program. I'm still in awe at how well this program really works.
Great tips and guide on how to get your baby on a schedule to sleep through the night. Liked that the PDFs are available to download so that I can see the examples that were discussed. Narrated very well.
The narrator was perfect but the actual concept of the book was a little hard to actually put into practice. But im sure was she says in the book may work for some people but it just didn't work for me and my baby
This method is amazing and it totally works. I started this method and my son was sleeping 12 hours through the night by the time he was 7 weeks old. I did have to allow him to cry it out a bit but he was able to learn to self-soothe! He wakes up smiling and happy and so do I!
I am so amazed by Twelve Hours Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old. It's a true gift! I ordered the audiobook because I had zero time to balance baby, life and schedules and it was the best thing I could have done! I would take my 5 week old daughter for a two hour car ride each day so I knew I could plug in the audio version and be good to listen to it for at least that long. By the time we got home, I felt empowered and excited to implement the skills I had learned. Just so happened that our arrival home coincided with her next feeding. Just like Suzy suggested, I did what I was taught and no joke.... I had to pinch myself because by the first real feeding, something was working!! I can't wait to implement my tool box! Thank you for such a great book! #lifesavor
Worth listening to because this system works and if you want to get your 'life' back after having a baby, I recommend this book.
This book was a game changer. My baby is 18 weeks and has been sleeping well for the past 10 weeks because of this book. She averages 11 hours a night, straight 7:30pm -6:30am with 3-4 hours of daytime sleep with 2-3 SCHEDULED NAPS. She has organized eating times and sleeping times, and puts her self to sleep in her crib. This plan also helped us get through transitions with outgrowing swaddles and rolling over in the crib.
Sleep training is work, but it is worth it.
I read this when my first born was 11 months old and it made him a GREAT sleeper. I have now reread it for my second son and am starting the process with him. It's amazing to think in 3 months I can be getting full nights sleep! Do this and trust it! It will change your life!
