In addition to this recording being written and delivered by Darren Marks one of the UKs leading hypnotherapists and NLP practitioners, it also utilizes dual delivery hypnotherapy (DDH) and brainwave entrainment. DDH involves different suggestions or metaphors being delivered separately yet simultaneously through the right and left headphones. The effect is deeply hypnotic and has the advantage of helping the unconscious mind to accept beneficial suggestions with less conscious interference.
When the brain is exposed to rhythm, the rhythm is recreated in the brain in the form of these electrical impulses. If the rhythm is the right speed it can begin to mimic natural brainwave patterns. When this occurs, the brain reacts by synchronizing to the same rhythm. This phenomenon is called the Frequency Following Response (or FFR). FFR is used here to assist people to rapidly access deep meditative states which could take years to master without assistance.

D. Marks assumes that the listener wants to learn something new and that the listener is either nervous about failing or hesitant to get started learning. I don't fall into either category so perhaps that's why it doesn't seem effective for me. I lose focus because I'm bored or distracted, which doesn't seem to be addressed in this session.
There's a 4 minute "lecture" before the hypnosis session starts so the hypnosis part lasts about 18 minutes.
There's something about becoming very relaxed and allowing my mind to absorb positive suggestions, at a point when it feels like I might drift off, which enables me to focus on the my work and tasks in a really positive and balanced way once I've finished listening. I can't recommend this and Darrens Super Charge Your Self Esteem recording enough, they've really helped me focus and feel confident in a way I never expected could be achieved through audios. Darrens calming voice and obvious experience shine through in a humble yet really powerful way.
It's hard to measure the success of these hypnosis cd's however I do have a lot of conviction when it comes to NLP, as I've been coached by an NLP practitioner. You get used to the voice and now I fall asleep to these dolcit tones.
It worked for me. After listening every day for a couple weeks and combining with a few of Darrens other recordings, I am not only more relaxed but I'm feeling much more confident and approaching lifes challenges with a newfound sense of excitement instead of worry. Thanks Darren!
As well as being a relaxing experience, I have found myself worrying needlessly a lot less. As a consequence I am enjoying weekends/vacations a lot more AND getting more done at work - (including regularly meeting deadlines without fail so far)
You can find better related material on youtube for free. This audio book focuses more on relaxing techniques - i almost fell asleep after listening through half of it. $5+ dollars for a 20 minute tape seems like a rip off to me. I'd recommend this if you have a sleeping disorder.

If like me you are sceptical about whether hypnosis for self improvement works, try this one. Darren has a hypnotic voice and the technique he uses really had a positive effect on me from my first listen. In fact the first time I fell asleep and woke up just at the end of the recording, not realising that it was in fact having an effect one me. I am now continuing with the rest of Darrens recordings to further improve and control myself.
If it stayed on point. Lost its way. Meant to improve focus and concentration.
22 minutes long, at 11 minutes it's still putting you under. Wastes precious time delivering study tips that we already know, then gets you to focus and concentrate on relaxation and his voice to get into the right state, then doesn't deliver anything once there.
Could use as a sleep aid.
