Publisher's Summary

In The Voice of Knowledge, don Miguel Ruiz reminds us of a profound and simple truth: The only way to end our emotional suffering and restore our joy in living is to stop believing in lies, mainly about ourselves.

Before we learn to speak, our true nature is to love and be happy, to explore and enjoy life. As little children, we are completely authentic. Our actions are guided by instinct and emotions, we listen to the silent "voice of our integrity". Once we learn to speak, the people around us hook our attention and program us with knowledge. The "voice of knowledge" comes alive inside our head, and what is that voice telling us? Mostly lies. That voice never stops talking, judging, gossiping, and abusing us. It constantly sabotages our happiness and keeps us from enjoying a reality of truth and love.

Ruiz shows us how to recover the silent voice of our integrity and find inner peace. When the voice of knowledge no longer controls us, our life becomes an expression of our authentic self, just as it was before we learned to speak. Then we return to the truth, we return to love, and we live in happiness again.

"One of the most enlightening&knowledgeable insight"
Where does The Voice of Knowledge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Considering the most that we listen to is children bases stories, Don Miguel Ruiz work is amazing that he has the ability to speak opening and givingly to us all, continuing his ancestors word and action through his own.

What other book might you compare The Voice of Knowledge to and why?

"When things fall apart" Pema Chodron. This book also resonated with me, at a time that also made complete sense, it all synced into place.

Which character – as performed by Peter Coyote – was your favorite?

I loved all of them. They each had something valuable to contribute.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

i felt relieved, excited and understood .... fascinating to have feelings flow through you and then you hear of this toltec traditions and it all makes sense, the pieces of our own puzzle fits. Finally :)

"A Shotgun to that voice in your head. Listen 5x!"
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Voice of Knowledge?

That you can switch off that voice in your head that keep on analyzing everything.
    Had inner peace every since!

What does Peter Coyote bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice of Peter Coyote is just amazing for this book. It engages you so well and the book just comes to life. You really feel everything about what the author is communicating.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That whatever I communicate is just my story.

    Any additional comments?

Been very helpful to listen to, before the four agreements book. Although the author does touch upon those agreement in this book.

    "Prespective"

This book was shown to me by a friend when first released, who said "Oh, I could only think of how much you would enjoy this book as I was reading..". I scan the preface and immediately knew why. I was also reevaluating right/wrong and good/evil. I didn't bother to read further until recently.,
This book's ideology challenges commonly held and steadfast beliefs that will be very diffucult for most to unlearn. Unfortunately the people who need it most will not read it or if they read it would not get it..! Sad but true! These untruths/LIES have exised for so long that they are embedded in our DNA, if I may be so assertive to say/type..!
A MUST READ for any transcendentalist...!

This the 3rd of this author's book I've read: The 4 Agreements, The 5th Agrrement were the first ones. It's NOT necessary to read them in order. But I started w/ the The 4 Agreements.

"An interesting take on an old story."
If you could sum up The Voice of Knowledge in three words, what would they be?

    Interesting, Enlightened, Stimulating

What other book might you compare The Voice of Knowledge to and why?

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. It seems that all the "New Age Authors" are rewriting or interpreting the ancient spiritual texts to tell us much the same things Faith can move mountains. Trust in the Lord/Universe/Source/Tao. etc etc.

What does Peter Coyote bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Peter conveys through his accent and intonation the Toltec "feel" of the text

What did you learn from The Voice of Knowledge that you would use in your daily life?

For me it didn't so much teach as reenforce what I know deep down and when there are so many elements in the modern world that are bombarding me with deablitating "knowledge" it is a relief to find a new voice supporting my beliefs that we are so much more than society would have us believe.

    Any additional comments?

Some wonderful new insights to go along with rewritten information taken from the 4 agreements.
