This is not a parenting manual. This is real life.
The Unmumsy Mum writes candidly about motherhood like it really is: the messy, maddening, hilarious reality; how there is no 'one size fits all' approach; and how it is sometimes absolutely fine to not know what you are doing.
The lessons she's learnt while grappling with two small boys - from birth to teething, three a.m. night feeds to toddler tantrums, soft play to toilet training - will have you roaring with laughter and taking great comfort in the fact that it's definitely not just you....

Great book from start to finish. I was laughing and nearly crying. The book makes you think and realise you're never alone in your feelings. Great for all mums and mums to be!
"honest and hilarious!"
absolutely loved your book sarah! honest, hilarious, emotional and reassuring! all mums should read it!
loved it was so funny will tell my friends to listen to it was amazing
This was my first audio book to purchase and is was very good I enjoyed it being a mum I related to a lot very well written and read
I needed this book. My daughter is four months old and for the first four months of her life I was convinced I was doing something wrong and that I just wasn't cut out for motherhood. But before I'd even got five minutes in I was crying with relief - someone has felt the same and I'm not alone! I've already bought a hard copy for my pregnant cousin and can't recommend this enough. Thank you Unmumsy Mum! A massive relief and funny, refreshing read (listen!).
Maybe not the best material for a book and worked better as a blog.. The amount of negative feelings accumulated in 6 hours just brought me more anxiety than joy or reassurance or relief of ability to relate. Not that the book doesn't have any positive messages, but I think they are drowned in the poop, barf and 'I can't get out of the house' stories. It is possible that the book just wasn't for me or I could not relate to the cultural setting, maybe parenting is different in UK. I would not recommend this book to an expecting parent. I will listen to it again after my son is born and revise.
"A must for every new parent"
Enjoyed it. Funny, sad, and real. First Audio book I've actually listened to the end!
"Thank you unmummsy mum"
Thank you unmummsy mum for helping me to cope with my unmummsy motherhood. This book is an antidepressant.
"Hilarious and validating"
This book is a bit repetitive in places but still a must read for all mums of small children. It made me laugh out loud and cry in places as well as making me feel decidedly better about my overall mothering abilities!!
I laughed and I cried. Thank you Sarah, for being so honest. My friends and I (owners of 5 toddlers and 2 babies) have really enjoyed your book and now feel normal about all those feelings that no one wants to share!
"Thank you Unmummsy Mum"
This book cannot be compared to other audio books. For me, it was like a therapy session where I just sat and listened, no effort required.
Me, I was mentioned several times in the book. the mum in the red coat, the mum on the bus, the mum who goes to b&q for a day out.
That it was read by the author.(sorry for the 3* performance - you sound like an old friend I'm not comfortable with reading these stories...)
It was like a big hug from a best friend/mum/therapist/health visitor/midwife all at once.
Laugh out Loud funny!
Probably best in the car in the commute to work, not in the kitchen while the children are eating their breakfast.
