Publisher's summary

When does 1 + 1 = 3 (or more)? When you've got a baby on the way.

Part of that new math, says number-one New York Times best-selling author Jill Conner Browne, whom USA Today calls "just plain funny", includes the addition of an outsize sense of humor to balance the equation of your growing family.

The Sweet Potato Queens' Guide to Raising Children for Fun and Profit is a hilarious (though not scientifically tested) wink at the time-honored mysteries of parenting, for anybody who has ever had a kid or has ever known one, knows that the experience is neither fun nor profitable - so, you might as well laugh!

As each generation begins its hopeful, happy, and, yes, sometimes harrowing journey together as Parent and Child, together they spawn a new body of "knowledge", the nuances of which will elude the Experts every time.

Here are stories of the things we do for Mother Love - or the most incredibly full-time volunteer job ever - and tips guaranteed not to be found in any other parenting guide.

Not as good as the love book by far. Boring.

Boring. Maybe it was the reading. The book of love was much funnier in my opinion.

    Not a let down

Having listened to other SPQ audiobooks, I can safely say that the Guide to Raising Children for Fun and Profit was on par with the rest. Jill Conner-Brown never fails to entertain me. An excellent blend of humor, entertainment, and advice; her material is relevant and witty. Her voice also adds to the material with it's soothing southern lilt. The recipes are actually quite good, to boot.

A Positive Outlook on All Things

Jill Conner Browne is a fantastic narrator and a wonderful story teller; this book, as with most of the Sweet Potato Queen’s books includes a lot of fun stories some about her or from friends and fans. Browne has the perfect recipe for these books, it starts off with a lot of funny short stories, with some advice thrown in, of course, then there is a sad/tear-jerker story somewhere in the middle, and then she wraps it up with some recipes which sound to die for.

Prepare to fantasize about delicious treats and cocktails while laughing your ass off. If you’re ever in need of a pick-me-up, the Queen will make you feel good.

    Loved it!

I waited a long time for this book to become available on Audible, and it was well worth the wait. If you loved the other SPQ books, you won't be disappointed. If you're a Mom, you will appreciate the wit and insight of this amazing woman.

    Starts to get preachy

Love Jill Conner Browne and as a child rearing book she has some good suggestions. But this went from light and entertaining (which is what I look for from the Sweet Potato Queen) to a little too much of a directive for my choice in a comedy. An hour plus left. I may finish it another day.
