Publisher's summary

The Sweet Potato Queens like men. They like them so much that they have devoted an absolutely inordinate amount of time to the pursuit of men, marriage, and great sex. And then, when that doesn't work out, they've devoted an inordinate amount of time to divorce, gittin another one and having great sex with him instead.

The Sweet Potato Queens' Field Guide to Men is the Queens manifesto on all matters of the heart, featuring tales from Queens around the world, plus the continuing adventures of the women you've come to know and love (and envy just a little bit).

In this audiobook, Wannabe Queens everywhere will learn: the difference between a Bud Spud, a Spud Stud, a Crud Stud, and other Studs; T.G.S. (Typical Guy S***); Man Ears and Other Guy Stuff; and still more about The Promise.

A Positive Outlook on All Things

Jill Conner Browne is a fantastic narrator and a wonderful story teller; this book, as with most of the Sweet Potato Queen’s books includes a lot of fun stories some about her or from friends and fans. Browne has the perfect recipe for these books, it starts off with a lot of funny short stories, with some advice thrown in, of course, then there is a sad/tear-jerker story somewhere in the middle, and then she wraps it up with some recipes which sound to die for.

Prepare to fantasize about delicious treats and cocktails while laughing your ass off. If you’re ever in need of a pick-me-up, the Queen will make you feel good.

Can't live with 'em, might as well laugh

What can I say-I love the Sweet Potato Queen books. I don't get the wigs or the boots or the parade, but I definatly get the mindset. I started reading the books when I heard my mom hooting and hollering in laughter reading them. She said it wouldn't be as funny to me because I'm not old enough or fat enough-and that may be the case. But I'm still in stitches everytime I read or hear these books. Trust me, the way the author speaks is enough to make listening to the books worthwhile, rather than reading them.

This is an excellent book that goes into what men are like, what women are like around men, and the crazy stuff we do to get around men more. Think of it as the southern "He's really not that into you," only funny.

Hilarious and intelligent, as always

Sweet Potato Queens rule, if you need some REAL advice about men, go no further. Get your self respect up to par and listen up, dear sister!

This what I like about the South!

Where does The Sweet Potato Queens' Field Guide to Men rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 1/4

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The encouragement to women to feel self worth and have strength to stop being a victim.

What does Jill Conner Browne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The inflection and speech patterns can never be fully realized on paper.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Not sure that there is just one. I read Jill Conner Browne to enjoy her twisted point of view and the creative way she describes her life.

Any additional comments?

This is light escapism reading. As a woman from East Texas, I identify in a many parts of the book the way I am and the way I would like to be. Sorry, Jill. Mississippi is more like Texas than you might want to admit.

The recipes are fun, too.

Great audio for the gym!

But hard to be discreet in a coed gym when you are hee hawing at the accurate depiction if the company surrounding you. Big fun!
