Disappointing to say the least. The book consists of two parts. Part 1: What is Self-Talk and How It Works. Part 2: Words of Self-Talk (containing over 2000 examples). The recording touches upon the highlights of Part 1 and contains 1-2% of the examples. I really wished it had more of Part 2.
Don't waste your money on the Audible version of this book. The author drones on and on about the benefits of self-talk, why it works, and how it can help you without teaching the listener to gain these benefits. The only useful messages are "Only work on improving one habit at at time" and "You must be patient - reprogramming yourself takes time". There is no other worthwhile content on this recording. This audio recording is total waste of your money, and more importantly, your time.
The author proclaims that his ideas and concepts are different from postive thinking, affirmations and self-hypnosis but, to my mind, he really didn't seem to demonstrate that. If you have had any kind of exposure to any of the above, then you understand the majority of what he covers here. He goes on way too long about the benefits of his methods,(we all know we're in a better mood, life goes better, if we "think good thoughts"), and says very little about the application.The only really useful thing he said was to take one issue to work on and stay with it until your thinking about it has changed. Otherwise I could find nothing new or particularly inspiring.
I was really looking for some different self talks audios that I could listen too. I already read the bigger book and thought this audio would supplement instead of just repeating the basics from the book.

Years ago when I was depressed following a divorce, this information gave me insight and direction on making "life" better. Choose what makes you happy by making good choices and repeating positive self-talk daily. It works !

I found this one boring and redundant, full of fluff and nothing of substance. The narration could be better if it felt more like someone was talking to me, rather than just reading one line after another.
Great book on how to change your believes. and create the life you want. It's a very pragmatic book that teaches you all the steps to get what you really want
Short sweet and tho the point. A Great first step on the path to self improvement.
