In The Four Agreements, a New York Times best seller for over seven years, don Miguel Ruiz revealed how the process of our education, or “domestication,” can make us forget the wisdom we were born with. Throughout our lives, we make many agreements that go against ourselves and create needless suffering. The Four Agreements help us to break these self-limiting agreements and replace them with agreements that bring us personal freedom, happiness, and love. Now don Miguel Ruiz joins his son don Jose Ruiz to offer a fresh perspective on the Four Agreements, and a powerful new agreement for transforming our lives into our personal heaven: the fifth agreement. The Fifth Agreement takes us to a deeper level of awareness of the power of the Self, and returns us to the authenticity we were born with. In this compelling sequel to the book that has changed the lives of millions of people around the world, we are reminded of the greatest gift we can give ourselves: the freedom to be who we really are.

A very abstract view of how to view the world and your life. Excellent narration. Not a lot of fluff either. Concise and difficult to understand topics repeated in different ways to insure you understand the concept. Probably not for everyone though. Pretty deep stuff.
This book is not just a review of the four agreements plus the fifth. It IS a re-statement of the first four agreements, but in much more detail and in more common language. I first became aware of the Toltec wisdom through Carlos Castaneda's series "the teachings of Don juan..." and they were impressive yet they seemed a distant unreachable wisdom in some far off world/ time shrouded in mystery etc. Then Merylin Tenneshende's book "Don Juan and the art of sexual energy" took the next step toward making the wisdom more tangible for the masses.
then Don Miguel Ruiz released "The four agreements" and it rose to great popularity in its profound power to help people transform their lives. It has served many people to such a transformations. It is a MUST READ in it's own right.
This new book "The fifth agreement..." is a crowning achievement of the Ruiz family to bring this level of clear communication of these Toltec teachings for everyone to reach. It speaks the teachings in such concise, direct, plain language using a wonderfully contemporary style.
Excellent! (Speaking impeccably) Totally worth it in my opinion!
Yes, though it goes very deep but some very good points!
The Four Agreements should be read first.
Listen more carefully and consider all you hear. Don't buy into other people's opinions. They are just that, opinions.
It was eye opening in a nonthreatening way. I was given enlightening opinions, gently. I didnt feel "that" judgement of myself that Ive been doing things wrong, nor "that" urgency to do things perfectly right. I love this book from soup to nuts! :))
It's very good to read books from people who have the patience and discipline to write/share about matters of the heart, soul and spirit of living in/of which you are simpatico. Although this is a sequel to The 4 Agreements, it is NOT necessary to read the previous title. As all areas are covered within these pages/chapters.
The pros of the audiobook format is perfect for this genre of books/authors 1. you can bookmark certain sections that are significant and replay them during the times you might need to hear them. 2. Miguel's universal prayers are always good to have on tap during trying times.
Peter Coyote voice is heartfelt. It's very important that the voice reflects the author and his point of view/prespective especially in this genre. ONE of my FAVE-st authors!
The book itself is great and i would recommend it definitely if you have not read The Four Agreements. And I would recommend it over 4 agreements, But seriously 80% of the book is an more of the same. So definitely buy one of them but not both.
I have a rather eclectic love of books. I know what I like and I tend not to be a severe critic. If I enjoyed it, it gets 4 or 5 stars.
I really enjoyed this book and I think it was better than the Four Agreements, which was awesome in itself! Some reviewers feel that it is the same as the Four Agreements and that there is no sense in reading both, but I think they are both worth their own merit.
I originally read the Four Agreements years ago and they changed me and the way I lived my life. Agreement number 2 especially (don't take anything personally) made a difference and continues to do that today.
The Fifth Agreement is a good refresher for the original Four and an interesting addition to the agreements. Well worth the read. Not as impactful as the first book but how could it be, it was only 1 agreement against four. Thanks Don Ruiz, again!
I am always learning and looking for new ways to grow as a person.
The human mind because its so tricky.
The story of the movie theaters was powerful!
I was moved by the whole book.
I found this helpful but it was a little confusing. This is one of those books you have to listen to more than once, but so is the Four Agreements so I don't think that's bad.
It's gives me a nes perspective on the voice in my head and the one that is doing the walking. One talks to the other and this helps me calm my thoughts and emotions.
It helps me calm my inner voice.
"Thought provoking and life changing"
If you've ever considered the insanity of the world and the way we respond to things. If you've realised that almost everything we stress about is nothing more than self initiated torture, then you will get this book. You have to listen carefully, to really get the concepts, but by the end of the book, you will realise that life need never be the same again. Life changing stuff if you care to take it onboard.
"Back to basics inspiration"
This practical guide adds to Ruiz' first book on the 4 agreements. It is back to basics common sense the Toltec way and can be applied by anyone and everyone. Truly inspiring and simple, and made all the more enjoyable when heard through the chocolatey tones of Peter Coyote's voice. Highly recommended.
If listened to after the Four Agreements this is life changing. I am going to go straight back to the beginning and listen again. Everything makes so much sense. It shows us how to live an authentic life and not to be caught up in drama, especially other people's. The narrator has a beautiful voice too. Enjoy.
"I have no words."
This is without a doubt a must read book. And I recommend that you listen to the audio book. This book can set you free and can change your life for ever.
Great toughts with a great voice. Worth to listen to again and again. Thank you.
Really good to listen to and makes you think and contemplate
Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill as that also makes you think and take inventory
I have not listened to any other performances of Peter Coyote
Quite a few, which is why I replayed and continue to replay. It is genuinely inspiring.
nurture yourself and get this audio.
"Life changing "
Life changing. I read this book a few years ago and start practicing this. I read again now and the way I understand has changed. Amazingly powerful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I couldn't get past the first 2 chapters of this book. It is so repetitive it drove me mad. It seems there is one idea in the book and this is endlessly repeated in different ways ad nauseum. The idea is not even original. Very disappointing as I loved "the four agreements" by the same author. It is basically terribly dull.
