Publisher's Summary

Rarely in a lifetime does a new spiritual classic appear that has the power to change people's lives and transform future generations. This is such a book. The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita: Explained by Paramhansa Yogananda shares the profound insights of Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, as remembered by one of his few remaining direct disciples, Swami Kriyananda.

This revelation of India's best-loved scripture approaches it from an entirely fresh perspective, showing its deep allegorical meaning as well as its down-to-earth practicality. The themes presented are universal: how to achieve victory in life in union with the divine; how to prepare for life's "final exam", death, and what happens afterward; and how to triumph over all pain and suffering.

    "For a seeker of spirituality"

Understanding the Bhagavat Gita which in essence is connecting to God. Shows how the Gita and the Bible convey the same eternal truth.

    "Words of wisdom"

For a scientific mind, these words may not make sense. But persistence and open mind will let the wisdom in

    "Interesting"

A very detailed look at the Gita. It was interesting, but I found a lot of it too sure and narrow minded to get into.

    "Not worth listening. "

Did not like so many things about it. Geeta is about a beautiful message give to mankind by God but the author focuses more on his Guru's accomplishments and on trying to please audience of various religions (perhaps because they have a foundation and they are promoting it through this book). the author and Geeta emphasizes on leaving the ego. there is no "I". yet at one point the author claims his Guru was Arjuna and his Guru was Krishna in previous incarnations. I see a big "I" there. If you are seeking just Geeta, this book is not for you. I rather like "Geeta - a walkthrough for Westerns" by Jack Hawley. read it couple of months. though I am Indian and a Hindu but still Jack Hawley's book delivered undiluted Geeta.

"Couldn't Listen to More than Five Minutes"

Quite possibly the most annoying narrator I have ever listened to. I had to stop listening because of the guy's voice. Too bad, because the subject material is really interesting.

    "For hard core only"
Would you try another book from Swami Kriyananda and/or Swami Kriyananda?

If you are looking for an overview of the Bhagavad Gita do not buy this book.
Leave this book to the zealots and the scholars.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    None

    it is what it is.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment wouldn't have bought this book if I had known what I know now.

"A beautiful book of Hindu thought"

This book tells the horrific story of Hiroshima and Nagasaki through the eyes of those who were there and lived long enough to tell their stories. The eye witness accounts are far more gruesome than King, Craven, Slade or any other horror writer could ever imagine. Chilling to think The bomb over Hiroshima malfunctioned delivering less than one third of its planned devastation and Nagasaki missed a direct hit or the devastation would have been far greater. The point of one of the survivors years later who told an audience it didn't matter who dropped the bomb because we as a world civilization allowed the technology and escalation that lead to it was very thought provoking.

"i could give less than one star"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

this is worthless book... don't ever give reference from any other religious book.

Geetha is Stand alone book, never get a word Bible or something .grrrrrr

What could Swami Kriyananda have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Talk only about Geetha and nothing else from other Religion.

What didn’t you like about Swami Kriyananda’s performance?

He is Fox in in Sheep skin, don't preach Bible on tha name of Geetha .
