Caution Spiritual Seekers: You Might Just Find What You're Looking For!

Underneath the turmoil of thought, emotion, and personal will, there is a flow. If you're reading these words, you've probably felt it - the natural movement of life, the truth that beckons below the surface of things. What would happen if you were to stop avoiding this universal energy, and instead completely embrace it?

According to author and teacher Adyashanti, herein lies the heart of spiritual awakening - and it's likely to "end your world." Why? Because with spiritual awakening, instead of a new version of you, you find no version of you - your true nature beyond any point of view - "that which is continually partaking of all experience, in each and every instant."

Straight Talk on the Nature of Enlightenment

More and more people today have had a glimpse of this genuine kind of awakening, only to see it slip away after a few hours or days. Adyashanti calls this the "I got it/I lost it" phenomenon that perplexes so many of his students. For those caught between what he calls "non-abiding" awakening and the ultimate state of "abiding" enlightenment, Adyashanti offers The End of Your World - his first in-depth audio course about the remarkable yet enigmatic process of spiritual awakening. With straight talk and penetrating insight, Adyashanti helps you navigate the pitfalls and cul-de-sacs that "un-enlighten" us along the journey, including: the trap of meaninglessness; how the ego can "co-opt" realization for its own purposes; the illusion of superiority that may accompany intense spiritual breakthroughs; and the danger of becoming "drunk on emptiness."Inquiring Sincerely into Every Aspect of Your Life

"Full awakening comes when you sincerely look at yourself, deeper than you've imagined, and question everything," teaches Adyashanti. With 12 bold sessions about topics ordinarily kept private between student and teacher, The End of Your World is your invitation to join Adyashanti for an honest investigation of what you really are - and how to live when you discover it.

I read for fiction for fun, and non-fiction about things I am curious about.

    "Experiences with altered spiritual awareness"

This book is fantastic. If you have had one or several experiences with significantly altered spiritual awareness, this book is probably for you. I loved it because I finally found a book that actually is directly related to my personal spiritual experiences. Most spiritual books are about the author’s personal spiritual experience. You will probably find that this book is related to your personal spiritual experiences.

Adyashanti writes about his own experiences, and his discussions with others regarding their personal spiritual experiences. The truth is that for most people these deep spiritual experiences are temporary. After a period we go back to a normal consciousness. And we have no idea why we suddenly had the experience, and how to get it back. We remember it intellectually, but we do not experience it any more. We remember the deep love, peace and spiritual connection and understanding we felt with everything, but we do not feel it any more. In this book Adyashanti suggests how we can we use this intellectual memory of the spiritual experience, when the actual spiritual consciousness has ended.

Personally I really needed this book, also because I never have discussed my personal spiritual experiences with anyone. I never did because I do not know how I can do that without seeming crazy? The book is fantastic because Adyashanti has described it in a way that I know is true, because I have experienced myself. For this reason, I strongly recommend this book if you personally have experienced a altered state of consciousness, where you for a period felt a very deep spiritual awareness. I believe everyone who is interested in spirituality would benefit from reading this book. It discusses how we handle situation where we no longer feel the deep spiritual awareness, but we only have an intellectual memory of it. This is the challenge with all spiritual description.

"quietly blasting through the usual zen-fare"

For those of you who have labored through obtuse, circular language and the niggling sense that some one is simply reading from their own journal while you are trying to find some usable insight and answers between work and making dinner; this may finally be a book you can derive some actual information from!

It is most likely a book for those who feel they have had at least a glimpse of another way of being, maybe not as good for those wholly new to the concept of enlightenment?

There is very useful insight into the various facets of awakening and how to deal with this in the everyday. Practical yet highly enlightened ways to nourish and use those moments of unbounded clarity to find deeper insight and extended awakening WHILE you are living a life of work and family etc. That he is attempting this is so rare as to be nothing short of extraordinary in and of itself! But he is quick to explain how this is not a self-help book, retaining the true nature of zen artistry, in a way that is clear and understandable — at least to me!

Adyashanti also exposes the various ways you can get caught in your attempts toward enlightenment. For me this was incredibly valuable information, I am already inclined to say even life transformational information! We shall see...

Anyway, brava Adya! and thank you!!!!

    "My favorite Adyashanti"
Would you listen to The End of Your World again? Why?

Yes - and I have - several times. This one feels a little more "raw" than Adya's other books. I really connected with this one.

Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love all his books, but this one was particularly good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No.....it's a little too "meaty".

    Any additional comments?

Just really loved this one. Adya is so approachable - so human. He feels more like a friend who has been through the trenches and is passing along what he's learned - rather than some elevated guru.

"Broke open my head (in a good way)"

It's wild because this is listed as a book, and is available as a book, but the whole program seems like someone talking to you about their direct experience.

Adyashanti's teachings come through loud and clear and touch the heart of what it means to be truly awake.

I will be listening to it again (and again).

    "Somewhat dry"
What disappointed you about The End of Your World?

There were not many anecdotes or examples that I could really relate to. I've learned so much from spiritual teachers who talk a lot about their lives or people they've worked with, for example Pema Chodron. In comparison but this felt rather abstract.

Would you ever listen to anything by Adyashanti again?

    maybe

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrator?

not relevant, the book is of talks given by the author himself. He's not an actor

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

determination to read it till I got something out of it. I did eventually.

    Any additional comments?

Maybe the blurb should make it clearer that this is for hardcore spiritual truthseekers rather than haphazard listeners like me.
