Known for their charm and simplicity, these simple tales feature brief adventures of animals, birds, and beasts - with a message hidden in each narrative. Every child should meet up with "The Hare and the Tortoise", "The Ants and the Grasshopper", "The Goose and the Golden Egg", "The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", and other characters.

Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. Story
Aesop, an ancient Greek poet who was sold into slavery in the early sixth century B.C, relied on animal stories to convey his key points to his masters in court. Aesop's Fables are now classic, memorable morality plays in which amusing animal characters drive home thought-provoking morals to generations of listeners and modern day readers. They illustrate what was fundamental to Greek culture yet their appeal lies in logic we still understand.

Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Absolutely outstanding
This is the best audiobook I've ever listened to. William Bennett comments to adults in between the selections. Those are outstanding. Those are aimed primarily at children, but as I listened to them, I felt they were picked out just for me, here in my middle-age. I found great comfort in them.
There are more narrators than listed above, and they're all outstanding. Sorry to use the same adjective over and over, but it just applies.

Book of the ages
Wonderful compilation of faith essays and fantastic additional material in the audio book.
I saw William Bennett on the show Life, Liberty, and Levin and he commented about being approached by publishers to issue a revised version of Book of Virtues to reflect today's "values". Mr. Bennett stated he refused because he wasn't going to give in to today's twisted view of "values". I hope Mr. Bennett keeps his word and leaves Book of Virtues as is. This was a great read for me when it was first published and the audio version is another gem that I can listen to over and over.

Worthy lessons to be taught and stories to be pondered.
This collection of stories and poems along with shared insights into their significance to positive character building is wonderful. It causes one to contemplate and compare their own actions, thoughts and sense of what is right and good; and hopefully one can learn from the examples shared through characters and verse.

Without a doubt the most outstanding collection of moral teaching for any generation. I remember some of these stories but when I was in school audiobooks didn’t exist. I struggled to read and stay engaged. Now I’m able to enjoy what others have enjoyed over the years.
