Publisher's summary

If you're unhappy and your life is a mess, you've got no one to blame but yourself - and you can do something about it! Dr. Laura, the incredibly popular and controversial therapist who hosts L.A.'s top-rated midday radio talk show, gives her no-holds-barred take on stupid things women do and how they can change. She uses real-world examples from her show and private practice to drive home the message that once you muster the courage to take responsibility for your problems and to take risks, the possibilities for personal growth and joy are limitless. If you're ready to handle the challenge, you can learn how to lose that jerk of a lover, parent the babies you've made, and follow your dream instead of some dreamboat. Get ready to jump-start your journey into self-worth.

Very good information for ALL women

I wanted to get this for my teen daughter who has friends marrying for all the dumb reasons mentioned in this book. I found good information for MYSELF. This is a must read for all women.

Good for those that have low morals.

If you are looking for something to improve a good marriage this isn't the book for it.

Truth!

It's hard to admit that you are responsible for choices that turned out to be less than ideal, bad or harmful, but we live and hopefully LEARN from our mistakes. You can do it!

Perfect for jumping in

If you’ve ever felt held back, this book is full of truths that will help you move forward.

A great book for both men and women in understanding how and why we do the things we do to achieve what we believe to be satisfaction.

Excellent and eye opening

I love the passion and straightforwardness that Dr Schlessinger offers in her books. This was a short listen that is definitely worthwhile.

Too bad it's abridged.

Would you try another book from Laura Schlessinger and/or Laura Schlessinger?

Yes, however, it's abridged so it served as a teaser that encouraged me to pick up the book and read it. An unabridged version isn't currently available as an audio.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

She bullet pointed her lessons and found extremely appropriate stories to illustrate them.

Have you listened to any of Laura Schlessinger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is alot like her radio show but its' more like a greatest hits. It's better than her radio show at points because she doesn't have to tease out the questions and there's no rambling from the callers.

Was Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives worth the listening time?

It was an excellent use of my time.

Any additional comments?

The recording was only an hour and a half. That's shorter than her radio show, that's ridiculous.

Classic Dr. Laura!!

I have listened to Dr. Laura for 30 years, and now my daughter is old enough to learn from this book and the experiences of the women who have reached out to Dr. Laura for help. This book is a classic!!

love listening to the author

Now I had a chance to read a few pages of the book in a library and decided to get it on audible. But I was worried that the person reading that would bore me. Yet it was the complete opposite! She has a voice, a way to present it that in the 1st 3 minutes she already has you. The way she talks really grabs your attention and inject the reasoning she's trying to have you see.
This was definitely something I needed to hear because I know I have a problem being clingy even when I'm not in relations with that person anymore. I have a hard time just letting go of a friendship always wanting to believe it can revive again. So even though this isn't as long as normal books her Bluntness definitely helps for you to see reason. besides listen into the examples of situations that you know we should not fall in. an even as a little girl I sow it as a embarrassment to see/hear women fall so low.
