Those who have made the decision to homeschool their children have done so out of great love for them and a desire to provide them an excellent education in the context of a warm, enriching home. Yet so many parents (mainly mothers) who have taken up this challenge find the enterprise often full of stress, worry, and anxiety. In this practical, faith-based, and inspirational book, Sarah Mackenzie addresses these questions directly, appealing to her own study of restful learning and her struggle to bring restful learning to her (six) children.

This book is amazing. As a new homeschooling mom (in our 5th week of our 2st homeschool year), I have already come to feel slightly overwhelmed with all there is " to do". The fear creeps up from time to time about whether or not I'll screw up our kids. But, I know the Lord has called me to do this great work. I must continue to trust that He will see it through to completion. I must rest in that.
Thank you, Sarah for reminding me to rest- to trust that when I need Him (which is all the time), He will immediately answer my cry. I can rest assured in that.
I loved this book!! I am preparing to listen to it again as I paint our study room. This book gave wonderful quotes and references. The advice and examples were easily appliable to daily life. The reader (who is also the author) read it beautifully. It was like she was inside my head as she wrote it and it was like talking to a dear friend as she read it.
The author does a flawless job of presenting her material. I gained so much out of this short listen. I must now go buy the paperback so I can highlight all my favorite quotes. Perfect for every homeschooling mom and someone contemplating it. Thank you, thank you Sarah!!
She speaks right to the heart of a home-school mother who is trying to honor God in how she raises, rears, and educates her children!
May God bless her 100 fold!
Sarah does an excellent job of reminding the homeschool mother of why she chose to accept the job of educating her own kids in the first place. Not only that, but she writes in a beautifully crafted way, exemplifying the deep love of literature and the written word for which she's become known. My heart is filled with gratitude for a book that brings us consistently back to the true aim of cultivating hearts and minds- not merely inputing data- and offering to our children an education steeped in beauty, wisdom, and truth that they (hopefully!) find irresistible! A book to read at least once a year, to be sure! I advise BOTH the audible version (to ensure busy mamas finish the book in a timely fashion!) and the print version (for underlining, notes, & reference!).
wonderful! new favorite. buying it for the ladies in my small group! a yearly read to refresh the homeschool mama's heart and renew her hope.
