Publisher's summary

If you're not daring to believe God for the impossible, you may be sleeping through some of the best parts of your Christian life.

“This book is not a Snuggie. The words on these pages will not go down like Ambien. I’m not writing to calm or coddle you. With God’s help, I intend to incite a riot in your mind. Trip your breakers and turn out the lights in your favorite hiding places of insecurity and fear. Then flip the switch back on so that God’s truth can illuminate the divine destiny that may have been lying dormant inside you for years. In short, I’m out to activate your audacious faith. To inspire you to ask God for the impossible. And in the process, to reconnect you with your God-sized purpose and potential.” (Steven Furtick, from Sun Stand Still).

Critic reviews

“Steven Furtick challenges all of us—from the missionary in the third world to the family in the suburbs—to believe God for the impossible and begin living a life of faith beyond the ordinary.” (Andy Stanley, senior pastor, North Point Community Church)

“I don’t know anyone better positioned to challenge you to rise above mundane living and embrace faith-filled audacity than Steven Furtick.” (Craig Groeschel, senior pastor, LifeChurch.tv)
“For too long Christians have embraced a miniscule vision of faith.… Steven Furtick reminds us that the God who accomplished the impossible through the great heroes of faith still desires to do the same through us today.” (Jentezen Franklin, senior pastor, Free Chapel)

Just what I needed!!!

Very motivating and encouraging. We all want to experience the miracles and wonders God can perform but often lack the faith. We have to believe in the US and the God in us to yield audacious results. Great listen!

Very Good

Thought this was a great book. Read lots of reviews on other sites before i bought it. The people with the bad reviews seem to be people looking for anything to be negative about. Listened to the whole book and really have nothing bad to say about. Very good listen!!!

Strategic.

It is an awesome read. It compels you to move forward and not accept or do the basic. The mundane things we do is unacceptable. To win for Christ and do for the kingdom, you must push past the limits. Especially the ones we have been so comfortable with. We have to do it in prayer.

Honest!

What did you love best about Sun Stand Still?

I love the honesty Stephen Furtick has when he talks about anything and it still is true with his book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Furtick talks about himself, his family, and many other people with different circumstances within this book. I can't choose a favorite but I like that his accountant guy is named Chunks. Then there is a man he mentions (I forgot his nickname) that was brought to Christ, then sent to jail. Furtick was worried about him and the man seemed happy that he could go to jail for the time he had to pay for crimes he committed so he could start a revival of Christ in the jailhouse.

Which scene was your favorite?

Probably when Stephen talks about him in college and inviting everyone on his floor to come and eat his food, how quickly he ran out of food and how he had to keep up with this plan. His determination is fun and funny.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I listened to it in two parts so I practically did listen to it in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

Stephen Furtick has a way of telling a story that puts you in his shoes so you experience it with him. He doesn't stand in front of you preaching at you or behind you, he's with you.
