Do you want to build a partnership with your horse that is empowering and liberating for your both? Stef P. Durham brings together her experience with natural horsemanship, equine-facilitated learning, spirituality, and coaching to reveal the beauty of working with your horse from your heart. Stef has a unique understanding of the horse-rider connection developed through years of education and experience. She brings it all together to help you find more meaning and fulfillment in the barn.
Horses have an unbelievable power to help us heal our hearts, find our passion, and live on purpose. Through partnership with horses, we can become empowered in our lives while helping the horses to live with authenticity and fulfillment. Your horse is a reflection of your soul. Soulful Horsemanship invites you to apply spiritual concepts while interacting with your horse to:
"My thoughts are designed to provide you with a compass you can align with your heart to find your own way to your highest potential in and out of the arena. I believe that the horse amplifies the clarity of your destination by acting like the mirror on a sighting compass, so you can see exactly where you are headed in life. Through a vision that is aligned with your heart, your higher self, and your divinity, you can build an amazing partnership with your horse and change your life."

Stef combines elements from The Miracle of Mindfulness, The Power of Now, The Secret and other sources of spiritual guidance with multiple training approaches from the field of natural horsemanship. In combining these experiences I believe she has tapped and articulated a lot of truths. However, the empower yourself dialogue becomes tiresome. I want to trust her as a resource so did some google searching and cannot find any video clips of her with horses. I am one to trust only by witnessing the teacher and appreciating what they have to offer. So I am left with the thought, is this book coming from a true natural horsemanship trainer or is it the work of someone very talented at combining ideas and experiences of others? Both are valuable but one has more credit. What made me cautious was her website. Is this a formula? I am not a fan of motivational speakers but am looking for more approaches to natural horsemanship with an open mind.
i hope this helps
Everything about this book is excellent!!! I wish I had it 42 years ago when I was 6 and just starting with horses!! I knew in my heart that Soulful Horsemanship was the way to live. But all through my life people tried to change me. I now know the Truth and will live there!! I will forever listen to the horses! Thank You Stef for sharing your passion!!!
I have had horses since 1979, spent a year at a Dressage barn as a paying student learning how to ride, clean tack and clean stalls...........but learned nothing about the horse.
Stef P. Durham has solidified the horse philosophy (I at 76) which has eluded me all my life: reverence for the Devine spirit within the horse and staying present in each moment you are with this beautiful creature.
I listen over and over again finding thoughts I had previously missed. As a result, my attitude has changed not only towards my horse, but towards the relationships with people in my life.
Stef's life experiences and wisdom will bring to anyone who is serious about having a close, some might say spiritual, relationship with their horse nearer to that goal. However, this audio book requires listening with intent and without distraction to achieve it.
Thank you Stef P. Durham
this amazing book touches on the real heart of our horse human relationships. i truly feel that this should be rewired reading for anyfuture horse owner.
Not a literary buff but enjoy classics to Neal Stephenson,Diana Gabaldon, John Irving, Haruki Marukami. Make me think. Apprec. your reviews.
Very fluid spiritual and wholistic narrative which took me home to my Ol hippy days and now at 60 years young I grow with my first horse. Only down was repetition of concepts I got.
There was some good information so it wasn't a total waste of a credit. For me, there wasn't much that I hadn't heard in other books. It's not a book I would listen to more than once, I had to force myself to finish. I'm sure others will really like it and the narration was pleasant.
I think the message of this book could have been articulated in about 5 sentences. And none of those would contain much of tangible value with respect to horses. Be present; be mindful, have a good relationship with your horse; enrich your soul; be yourself. A lot of new-age, existential musings, and not many (any?) useful take-aways.
This book was so much more than I expected and all of what I needed! Finish the book to the end. It starts off slow and challenges what you have always learned! It will come full circle so stay with it.
