The first meditators in history were the shamans, whose practices for contempaltion and connecting with the divine are echoed in virtually every spirtual tradition today. In Shamanic Meditations, Sandra Ingerman invites you to return to the source of human spirtuality - and experience for yourself the enduring power of these ancient practices for healing, guidance, and awakening.
With seven guided meditations - called "journeys" in the shamanic traditions - from a renowed author and teacher, the two-hour program features and overview of ahmanic principles, guided practices for finding your "spirit teachers" and "power animals", the shamanic initiation into oneness, and more.

I really didn't get into the background noises and then when you finally get relaxed. you are hit with loud whistling.
This is absolutely the WORST listening expereince I have had to date. Her vioce is TERRIBLE and sounds like she is reading a grocery list. I wish I could get my money back. Shame on Sandra Ingerman for having such a big ego that she tried to forgo a professional narrator.
Not if she reads it.
Not the Gene.
No, she should hire someone else to read.
Annoyed by the rise and fall of her voice, it did not inspire a meditative mood. Every sentence starts out sharp and shrill then dwindles down. Feels like being on the edge of a very large wood saw. UP! then slowly down, UP! and so on. Not relaxing.
The naration was so distracting that I could not enjoy the message or intent of the rest of the book.
Here is a great set of meditation that may bring visitors to you. I had several animal guides and spirit guides show up.
I liked the meditations but I always had the feeling that something was missing. Perhaps it was the sound of her voice which is personal to me but I was not able to overcome the feeling.
I really like the idea of guided meditations yet I was slightly disappointed with the "canned" nature of the offerings.
I believe that these meditations can be extremely enlightening and helpful to anyone who is on a path of self discovery. I believe strongly that this sort of work is essential for inner growth and Ingerman does a more than adequate job inspire of my personal preferences.
Overall worth listening to many times especially when life has handed one a difficult experience.
No I wouldn't recommend it because it's difficult to relax into the meditations. The concept of this book is wonderful and I was really excited about it but I'll be returning it.
Seeing in the Dark has some wonderful meditations included. Narrated Janice Anderson has a beautiful soothing voice that augmented the material.
She was to monotone and her voice had a cadence that simply wasn't pleasing to the ear. People drawn to this material are extremely sensitive individuals who would pick up on the tone.
I would suggest to the author that she hire a professional and redo this project. She has a great idea here but her voice does not create the relaxing feeling she's aming for. Practicing the meditation, I just felt irritable with the quality of the finished product. Any benefit was lost to me.
"Help is at hand"
This is a book that will help you heal yourself no matter if you are a spiritualist or not.
I have done some of the mediations and they do work.
The book helps you connect to your animal spirits, your spirit guides, helpers, protectors and teachers.
you can work safely, and reap the benefits of being able to heal your self.
I work with a spirit Shaman he teaches me about herbs for making healing oils.
This book will bring you back to basics some thing I think we tend to forget in todays rush rush world, it will reconnect you to Nature and to your sprit self on a deep but safe level.
This book is on my IPod and has helped me a lot
I would recommend you give it a try you will not be sorry you did.
"Great meditations for beginning shamanic journeying"
I was not really sure what to expect having bought meditation cods and audiobooks before and I was impressed once the mediations began. Each one takes you on a separate journey using a variety of instruments, not just drumming. The descriptions used for the meditations made it really easy to visualise and connect to the other realms.
I will listen to this again and again as I am finding it very relaxing and enlightening.
she sounds like Marge Simpson, crossed with flipper. The underlying, well researched, message is completely destroyed by the worst reading of an audio book ever.
