Good Reminder

I think a lot of self help books are reminders of things we may already know inheritantly. This is no exception. It gently reminds us of the ways we can better deal with our children and provides good insights into why this works. I will continue to listen to it until I can make all the author's suggestions habits because I can already see improvements.

Good parenting advice for all ages

I enjoyed listening to Mr. Runkel's book and could relate to a lot of the scenarios he used as examples. He offered good advice which is easily transferable to everyday situations. Saying that, I was hoping to get more examples of real-life situations and what to do/say implementing his tactics. He does offer some of these - just would've liked to hear a few more to really understand how to use the "scream-free parenting" way.
I look forward to adjusting some of my behaviour with my kids so as to avoid future blow-ups. It is nice to have some new parenting ideas that can also be used for all relationships, not just parent/child.

Great book

The narrator is fantastic. It's easy to listen to and encouraging you to work on YOU. I've listened multiple times and always find something new to take from it.

I feel equipped to parent our 4 sons.

Even though my youngest of 4 sons is now 16( the others are 26, 20 & 20)
I wish I'd been provided this book to read and reread during my 40 week pregnancy with our 1st son.
But, God knows the best time. Thank you for providing this family saving, revolutionary information.

Very personable. Like sitting with a knowledgeable friend, someone supportive, and giving you valuable information, life long lessons.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was very hard not to but I wanted to think about the information and absorb it.

Definitely what I was looking for.
If you have already been over all the other books focusing on the children and have yet to find your answers this is a great start. Not saying that there are not many great parenting books out there with concepts that are tried and true because there are. What I am saying is this should be considered the backbone to implementing other strategies and for me after trying and having failed at other attempts with one of my very willful and stubborn minded children this book was a breath of fresh air. It may not be a cure all but it absolutely is a great foundation. Not only for the parenting role but your own personal relationships and most of all the relationship with yourself! We have all heard the different sayings “can’t love someone unless you love yourself" yada, yada, yada. But it's true and even though that is not what this book is teaching, it is teaching you to control what you can and all that we can control... is ourselves.

Delightful perspective of parenting

I've read numerous parenting books and they all center around sacrificing your own needs and training your child to be mechanical. Scream Free Parents is a MUST READ or LISTEN! Great parenting starts with the parent not the child. Common sense application that we over look as parents because we are so focused on our making our child better that we forget we must make ourselves better before we can teach our child how to hand situations scream free.

Scream free is something most if not all parents wish to achieve... however accomplishing that is another story altogether. The information in this book is helpful and like most books of this nature it requires diligence to follow their with the application steps given. Like my mom always said..."it's easy to raise bad children... raising good ones takes a lot of hard work", sage advice - like this book.

Caused a Paradigm Shift in Our Approach Parenting

My wife is extremely skeptical of any outside parenting advice. Overall we feel good about the job we are (or were) doing for your 11 year old daughter. However, she's just not taking ownership of her school work. So we prepared a plan that would ratchet up the front oversight on school work and pull in her social leash. The book was just supposed to give me some tips on stating
