Publisher's summary

Have you ever wondered how you will feel when you are suddenly given the responsibility to make important decisions for your parents, because they are no longer capable of doing that for themselves?

How will you handle their financial affairs? Will they prefer to get home care services or would they want to stay in a nursing facility? Do you have the required authorization to talk to your parents' doctors, obtain their medical information, and make important medical decisions? How will you ensure that your aging parents are safe and comfortable in the place where they are living in? These are just some of the questions many adult children have in mind, but refuse to ask and deal with.

Aging is one of the taboo topics that many people try to avoid. We do not want to even think about it, because we are afraid of the unknown and we do not want to imagine the prospect of losing our independence. You may already observe the noticeable signs that your parents' physical and mental capacity are declining, but they are still in denial. They don't want to admit that they, who used to be your caregiver, will now become care recipients. Many aging parents find it hard to accept the truth that they will have to seek help and assistance from their adult children who used to be under their care.

But aging is inevitable. You can make the aging process more fulfilling and meaningful for both you and your parents by making the effort to face it head on and make the necessary preparations. There are effective techniques and strategies which can help ensure that your aging parents' health, finances, and housing needs are properly addressed. This audiobook will guide you in your journey through your parents' aging process.

useful for the clueless

This could be useful for those that don't have any idea of where to start. The book is mostly a guide to making lists of things to deal with on the practical/legal side. However, it doesn't seem to cover in any way the mental/psychological/emotional stress/health of anyone involved .

Good for beginners

I have bee caring for my 88yo grandmother for 6years now and this was too basic for me. I wanted something more along the lines of how they think about life, and their place in it, more psychologically etc. This book was full of very practical and helpful info for the beginner.

More about paperwork than I expected.

I'm disappointed in this book. It was well narrated and easy to listen to, however, the content of rhe book is sparse and does not offer much.

" Cliff Notes " for the beginners

I can not refrain from saying this book was anything less than life changing. I, and the rest of our family, have been in denial . We have been allowing "time" to " just happen". I found this book by simply searching and tpraying it would be good. I will admit, with such little reviews, I was skeptical. Regardless, I trusted my instinct and I am garteful. It offered helpful direction to a "newby" like me in this confusing and uncertain, "area of concern". I plan on sending this audiobook as a gift to those who will be directly impacted by our aging family member.
( I have no clue if this post is public, private , or If I even have a name attached to what I am writing ). I do not typically post remarks unless it DESERVES the recognition. This short and straight forward book was presnted as bullet points of events to come, options , & solutions with references.
Offering unconventional ways t
for "home care" or similar assistance beyond Medicare . Best of all, it offered good examples on how to begin conversations without igniting fear or defense from our loved ones.
Thank you to the Author !
