Publisher's summary

Perhaps you can recall a time when you felt more alive than at any other moment — when you had a sudden recognition of beauty, a feeling of deep contentment, and a sense of connection with life greater than you had ever thought possible. And then, this fleeting moment was gone.

What if you could recapture that remarkable opening, and make it a consistent way of living in the world? Throughout Europe and North America, a man named Eckhart Tolle has emerged as a teacher with the unique ability to draw us into the awakened state he calls "presence." With Realizing the Power of Now: An In-Depth Retreat with Eckhart Tolle, you have an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless dimension — a place within us that always is and ever will be beyond the turmoil of life, a world of calm beyond words, of joy that has no opposite.

A walk in nature. A personal crisis. A moment of laughter. These can all serve as portals that take us to the depth and wonder of the Now. But how do we access these portals so that we dwell in presence more and more often? With Tolle's guidance, you will discover many simple ways to leave behind the chaos and suffering of the mind-made world, and enter this state of serenity and grace. Tolle will show you how to go beyond the endless stream of thoughts, and simply allow whatever is happening to occur...use sense perceptions and your "inner body" to find a peace that exists independent of conditions...see past "the little me and my story" and find your home in the "living Now."

Wow!

Great listen. For the past month my favourite thing to do has been to go for two hour runs in the rainforest with this lecture on my ipod. Transforms you to a new level of presence and depth that I haven't experienced any other way. It has impacted my work, relationships, every aspect of my life. Amazing.

Cannot put a price on this wisdom

Where does Realizing the Power of Now rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

#1

What was one of the most memorable moments of Realizing the Power of Now?

Reminding us that we are not our thought. Thoughts are a manifestation of the ego.

What does Eckhart Tolle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing his calm nature makes the information easy to absorb.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book changed my every day thought patterns. now I care more about staying aware and focused during my actions than the fruits of my labor.

Any additional comments?

Eckart's teachings are not religious. If you are a Christian, Catholic, Hindu, etc... He takes wisdom from all of the great spiritual teacher and shows us the similarities . When you step back and look at it from this angle, you can see that all religions are pointing us to the same thing. Become one with the source of consciousness. It made me realize that I am the one who BREATHES... Not the one who THINKS

Deep Spirituality

Would you listen to Realizing the Power of Now again? Why?

Yes. It's a meditative listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Realizing the Power of Now?

As Tolle states the most memorable moment is the one happening Now.

What does Eckhart Tolle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The personal touch.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Reading various comments on Tolle's audio books, it's amusing to see Tolle's teachings being exhibited in the thinking of the commentators. Negative comments on the audio quality, background laughter, and so on. Tolle addresses such viewpoints with his cold soup analogy. Don't focus on what you see as negative. Exactly what Tolle is attempting to teach our minds, a higher view, an uncluttered perspective. listen to it and apply it to your personal life stories. It will liberate you from the clutter of our trained upbringing.

Ineffable

One must experience Eckhart in whatever form they can (book, audio etc..). To witness the profound silent presence between the words. So gloriously held by him. May all sentient beings find this peace vieled by thought (life experience). We are that.

Keeps the metaphysical ball rolling

Good follow up to The Power of Now.....The first book changed my life and this one keeps me loving life. If you're going to nit pick about Tolle's voice modulation or laugh, etc. don't bother listening...chances are, you aren't ready.

Another Good Inspirational Book by Tolle

Would you consider the audio edition of Realizing the Power of Now to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audio version. It is always nice to hear the author speak. Inflection and tone are provided by the author the way he intended it to be.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Realizing the Power of Now?

Basically, he is just revealing the way he actually lives his life. His work has really helped me release grief and anger towards people.

What about Eckhart Tolle’s performance did you like?

I love the way he laughs. He will say something very intense and his laugh causes everyone in the audience laugh. This releases the fear or tension of his statements.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Realizing the Power of Now?

The one thing that he says - "they were doing the best they could in their reality"....that really helps me forgive other people.

Practical guidance for staying in the NOW!

I loved the Power of the Now so was glad to hear this sequel that offers clear tips. I was still putting pressure on myself to become Enlightened. Now, I just stop whenever I feel uncomfortable, notice it, accept it, and move on. Now there is space growing around everything!
