I've been listening to this recording a few times during the last few days and so far I can tell that I will continue to do so in the future also, since it works pretty well.
First of all Glenn Harrold has a great voice to guide the hypnosis session: it's deep and commanding and supporting enough to let you "believe" him to be there for you. Secondly, the pacing of the exercise just seems right and it made, at least me, really fall deep into a state of relaxation, and then in the end to rise back to the full consciousness. I have to say, though, that I've been doing relaxation by my own before, so I presume that I've had a bit of exercise on this part already, but actually I think that although this recording doesn't guide one into a deep relaxation by going through every limb one by one (like I've learned to do before) one can still get very relaxed by listening to it, and even more so by continuing to keep listening to it.
So I can full-heartedly recommend this recording to anyone wanting to find more motivation and energy to their lives. I've been using it to get more energy to go through one tough work project I'm on at the moment, and it has helped me alot. I've been doing it lying down on the bed and listening to either Part 1 or Part 2 and when I get up after the exercise I feel ready for some action! I give this recording 5 stars easily.
I was skeptical that a hypnotic recording could be effective, this is good stuff. Clear voice, positive message, very relaxing, equates to an empowering 56 minutes.
I bought this on a whim. I always wanted to try being hypnotized, but wasnt going to seek it out or get on stage for some two bit magician.
Listening on my ipod while laying down, I kept thinking 'I'm not relaxing like I'm supposed to, My mind isnt clear... It's not going to work'
Then I woke up. Have no idea what the tape said, but I finished a book I put off for awhile today and have generally been more active than usual for a staurday afternoon.
Sure you can say its just me fooling myself, but isnt that what the tape is supposed to do?
I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who has wished for help getting to sleep. I have used many meditation and self-hypnosis tapes over the past 15 years with varying degrees of success.
I have certainly not expected anything new and outstanding to come along. But then I kept coming across rave reviews for Glenn Harrold who wrote and recorded this tape. I gave in to hope and purchased it and....it works!
He uses a totally different technique than the others I have heard. Please do use ear phones if you can because you will hear all of the different suggestions and different tones that he combines. He overlays his sentences with other sentences at times. You will see what I mean if you get this. And the music is so easy and unintrusive. His voice is perfect for this kind of tape.
If you have as much trouble as I do sleeping then you will understand my enthusiasm for this. I hope you have the same great results that I have had! Best wishes.
Over the years I have listened to many (very many!) self hypnosis and motivational tapes. None of them had the qualities of this audiobook. Glenn Harrold has a very pleasant English accent and is really very easy to listen to. I found myself extremely relaxed and wonderfully refreshed. Well worth the money!!
I have only listened to this twice now but I had to write about my experience. This is the first self hypnosis audio book I have ever bought. I am not sure if it was my expectations or it really did do what it said it would do, but the first listen resulted in an entire day of house cleaning, furniture moving, and finishing of a project I have been putting off for about 6 months. I look forward to continued listening and plan on purchasing more of Glenn Harrold's audio books. I got more out of this than anti depressants, therapy or any other self help book I have ever read. The narration was pleasing and soothing, and I am looking forward to seeing how my work day goes tomorrow!
This really works! This is the first hypnosis audio I've purchased and I am so pleased that it actually works. There is a small warning, though. After listening to it in bed, I woke up exhausted the first few times. It's not meant to fall asleep to (especially with the Audible voice thanking you for listening to Audible at the end), but that's really the only time I can do it. For some reason, though, it fully works every time now and I wake up with energy and, well, motivation. I have to disagree with some of the other reviewers have stated - the narrator has a wonderful, discernible voice. I have no trouble understanding him at all. I highly recommend this audio.
I have listened four times now. On the first morning, I decided to go into it very open minded & wanting it to work. My results that day were amazing. The other mornings I've listened, I've had things on my mind and didn't lend myself fully to the audio. I do think it works if you let it. His voice is calm & gentle; don't know why anyone complains about that aspect. I liked it enough, I've bought more of his stuff.
I bought this MP3 several years ago, and I've listened to it off and on since. I thought that the English accent might be off-putting, but the truth is, I don't really notice it.
I like the way that he starts with breathing. Honestly, like several other reviewers said, I generally don't hear much of it after that, because I've fallen asleep. However, anything I've heard him say, I absolutely agree with. A lot of self-hypnosis authors are just wacko or not from my planet, but I think Harold's audios work because I agree with what he's telling me.
I started purchasing Glenn Harrolds motivational guided audio books 4 months ago. Raise your Energy & Increase your Motivation was one of the first ones. Love Glenn Harrolds content, great insight and focus very relaxing and easy to enjoy and accept. I don't know exactly what was the push and when since it was so gradual everyday that nudged me from one step into another . I can only look back now and realize I went from a couch patato to working my way up to walking/running 5 days a week, 3.5 miles each day.. I can only say enjoy his audio books for how uplifting and positive they are. And let time do the rest a little each day.
