Publisher's Summary

The prescriptive follow-up to the New York Times best seller The Dream Manager.

One of the major issues in our lives today is work-life balance. Everyone wants it; no one has it. But Matthew Kelly believes that work-life balance was a mistake from the start—because we don’t really want balance; we want satisfaction. Kelly lays out the system he uses with his clients, his team, and himself to find deep, long-term satisfaction both personally and professionally. He introduces us to the three philosophies of our age that are dragging us down. He shows us how to cultivate the energy that will give us enough battery power for everything we need and want to do. And finally, in five clear steps, he shows us how to use his Personal & Professional Satisfaction System to establish and honor our biggest priorities, even if we spend a lot more time on some of the lesser ones.

What the Critics Say

“There is nothing more difficult, as working mothers and fathers both know, than juggling personal and professional demands without sacrificing their own happiness. We’re so happy to hear a male perspective shared by Matthew Kelly, who shows us how to align our priorities to get what we are really looking for—life satisfaction. Everyone with a job (inside or outside the home) should read this book.” (Cathy L. Greenberg and Barrett S. Avigdor, New York Times bestselling authors of What Happy Working Mothers Kno)

    Any additional comments?

This book is mostly common sense. However, Matthew Kelly’s genius is the way he lays out simple and logical points that motivate you.

"Got a lot out of it!"

Great book, made me think about my life differently. Easy to listen to. There are a few surveys to take to get the listener thinking and assessing. I have listened twice and that's rare for me.

    "Practical help toward life satisfaction"
What did you love best about Off Balance?

I am always looking for practical business help. I have read other Matthew Kelly books and have found them to be filled with good practical knowledge. I am big on character building; his works can really help in this area. Like all practical knowledge you have to take the time to apply it to see the results. Go to his mentioned web site to get some additional prodding.

    "Very good advice"
Would you listen to Off Balance again? Why?

Yes...I bit much to take in with just one listen.

What does Mike Chamberlain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Did a good job conveying the author's ideas.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Off Balance?

Lots of them..Much food for thought.

    "same same"

I listen to many motivational books and this is not really different than any of them. Matthew has taken to court and symbols of motivation been planning, defining goals, living with purpose and mashed them up into a book.

I like some of the ideas but think they could easily be stripped down.

"Repeating words - not very balanced"

I did not enjoy this book because of the constant repetition of the same words and phrases. Not sure if it's because it is an audiobook and I might have a different opinion if I had read a text.
The ideas were not throughly developed. I felt all could have been said in 1 hour and that was a little off balance.
