Publisher's summary

“Napoleon Hill was one of America’s great, influential thinkers who continues to have an enormous impact today.” - Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine

Bestselling author Napoleon Hill reveals the seven principles of good that allow us to triumph over obstacles...and find success.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Critic reviews

"My simple faith is this: If we are created in God’s image, then we were born to create, and to create is to prosper. [This] previously unpublished Napoleon Hill manuscript.... I’ve read it and recommend it." (Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes magazine)

Shutup Sharon!!!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Like many of the other reviewers Sheron Lechter's comments totally ruin the book. It added nothing but defocuses from the contents

Obnoxious editor narration

The audiobook would be fabulous without the obnoxious and pointless narration from Sharon letcher, if her useless commentary could be removed from the audiobook, I’d have nothing bad to say, 5 stars across the board without her 2 cents interspersed through out.

Who is this lady?

I ordered a book written by Napoleon Hill... Not a book written by Napoleon Hill with interruptions every 5 minutes by a lady who wants to give you her opinions while reading the book.... Almost couldn’t finish it. Great concept and well written just hard to get in a flow when this gal interrupts the flow every time you finally get back into it. I’ve never written. Negative review before, but I can’t understate how turned off I was by the unorthodox decision to babysit the listener as they go through the discussions. Very disappointed in what otherwise would have been an amazing audio book that I’d go back to often enough. Thanks for writing this Napoleon... May you Rest In Peace. No thanks to the baby sitter.

For such a time as this.

Powerful and compelling. The words are as true today as when they were written.

Quirky start and premise. GREAT book.

What did you love best about Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil?

There's theater in this book, but there's also a ton of great info. I've recommended this book many times over and have listened to it several times.

What other book might you compare Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil to and why?

Executive Toughness

What about Dan John Miller and Phil Gigante ’s performance did you like?

You would never mistake the "devil" for Napoleon Hill.

Any additional comments?

The first hour and a half is a bit slow but it's worth it.

Complex and yet simple. Hard to understand and yet straightforward. Listening multiple times I believe be helpful for me to really discern the message each of us need from this important information. Super insightful and thought provoking. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Brilliant! Absolutely Unneeded Edited Annotation

Not sure what was the point of Sharon Lechter's edit. She could have just wrote a review and add a page as a preface. No need to stop at every brilliant point in the book to say how interesting and brilliant the point was.

That been said - the book is so advanced for it's time and it really sets the core foundation on how important it is to take control of our taught and our mind, that you do need to press the pause just to comprehend the matter.

And at time you just want to pause it to acknowledge how ingeniously Hill put it in a form of dialog..

Extremely valuable, educational and intellectually humorous.
Providing many ideas on how to build better societies, end poverty and live a valuable life.

Outstanding book if you can get through the commentary

Another classic from Napoleon Hill. Excellent read and listen. You will have to be open to a different perspective in order to get the most from this book. Only negative about the book is the interruptions with the commentary as other reviewers have mentioned. It would be great if the commentary was announced so you could mentally prepare for the shift from Napoleon to Sharon. Overall well worth the read and/or listen.

Would be great without the constant interruption

I really love the concept of this book but I have to admit I got really irritated with the constant interruption of Sharon Lechter. She kept repeating and interpreting Napoleon Hill's words as if the listener wasn't capable of doing that on their own. It was like having Cliff's Notes constantly scattered throughout the book. The actual interview with the devil was GREAT! But again it kept being interrupted by her narrative. None of Hill's other books had an "interpreter. If anything, that might have been needed in the Law of Success which did have complex ideas and concepts in some parts. Overall I'm not sorry I purchased this book but maybe in the next edition they can leave out the "editor" interpretations and questions.
