Publisher's summary

“Napoleon Hill was one of America’s great, influential thinkers who continues to have an enormous impact today.” - Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine

Bestselling author Napoleon Hill reveals the seven principles of good that allow us to triumph over obstacles...and find success.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Critic reviews

"My simple faith is this: If we are created in God’s image, then we were born to create, and to create is to prosper. [This] previously unpublished Napoleon Hill manuscript.... I’ve read it and recommend it." (Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes magazine)

A Long-awaited Pearl

What a timely read/listen. Napoleon Hill writes this book during the rise of Hitler and it publishes in 2011. The subject matter is as controversial then as it is now. This book displays the author's worldview without any reference to any established religions. The interview style is an excellent format that allows both protagonist and antagonist to elaborate on deep psychological issues.

Mankind's struggle with temptation causes a drifting away from a moral path and eventually into a natural hypnotic rhythm of permanent negative thoughts, e. g., failure. Napoleon Hill asserts that the moral compass exists in men who are successful giants in their industry. Disciplined learning, even from failure, is essential for success, along with perseverance. Self-control maintains emotional balance to prevent distortion of will and reason. Once one betrays the moral code, that individual starts to drift. Staying focused requires Definiteness of Purpose or Intentional Purpose. Hill claims that success is almost guaranteed if one has Definiteness of Purpose with Definiteness of Plan.

So why adopt Definiteness of Purpose as a daily practice? Hill states that it is a fundamental step toward a spiritual, meaningful life. He suggests one follow seven principles: 1) Definiteness of Purpose 2) Mastery of Self 3) Learning from Adversity 4) Controlling Environmental Influence 5) Time; giving permanency to positive rather than negative thought habits and developing wisdom 6) Harmony 7) Caution: Thinking through plans before acting.

A game changer

In this book it puts everything into perspective. A lot of the things that I've heard I have already added to my life ,however this just lets me know, that I am headed in the right direction and as was stated I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

Perhaps it is Sharon's voice

almost perfect... because of you know what.

But I think some of Sharon's commentary are acceptable (if heard on 1.3x).

the rest of the book is fantastic, and unfortunately not something I think many are ready to hear.

best,

fellow ex. drifter

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery

This books, right along with "how to own your own mind" are two of the best books ever when it comes to learning how to think for yourself in the pursuit of truth. It took me years once I began the journey, to unravel the web of lies and social engineering I had been conditioned to believe growing up and most of my young adult life. This book was instrumental along the way.

Learn how addictions, lies, and fear are used as tools to keep us as mental slaves. Sounds extreme. It is!

Amazing book

This book is easily one of my favorite books of all time. Truly amazing how relevant everything is not just from the time Hill wrote it but even still from the date it was published in 2011! True timeless wisdom and knowledge in this book 🙏
