Publisher's summary

“Napoleon Hill was one of America’s great, influential thinkers who continues to have an enormous impact today.” - Steve Forbes, editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine

Bestselling author Napoleon Hill reveals the seven principles of good that allow us to triumph over obstacles...and find success.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Critic reviews

"My simple faith is this: If we are created in God’s image, then we were born to create, and to create is to prosper. [This] previously unpublished Napoleon Hill manuscript.... I’ve read it and recommend it." (Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes magazine)

Hill's Homily

This book lays down some of the fundamental principles of The Secret. It is eerily applicable to events occurring today. Hill and the devil's voices are on point. The lady who comments is okay but her voice is not very pleasing. Even though I work in the public school system, I agree with a lot of what was said about not teaching children the power of their mind to question things and to think for themselves. That is thankfully changing at least in some small part in what I observe today. The main points of the book are reiterated throughout . My friend who recommended it felt very powerfully changed her thinking. Me, not so much since I've already read the secret and other books about the power of the Mind. It merely confirm what I already know.

Brilliant! Absolutely Unneeded Edited Annotation

Not sure what was the point of Sharon Lechter's edit. She could have just wrote a review and add a page as a preface. No need to stop at every brilliant point in the book to say how interesting and brilliant the point was.

That been said - the book is so advanced for it's time and it really sets the core foundation on how important it is to take control of our taught and our mind, that you do need to press the pause just to comprehend the matter.

And at time you just want to pause it to acknowledge how ingeniously Hill put it in a form of dialog..

Extremely valuable, educational and intellectually humorous.
Providing many ideas on how to build better societies, end poverty and live a valuable life.

Thought provoking!

Amazing, how relevant Hill's words has become some 70 years after being. His words yield powerful considerations as to truth of if this conversation was real imaginary or some mixture of both. The still presentation is outstanding and yield so many more questions of What if. Powerful written work.

Devilish Wisdom

What did you love best about Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil?

Napoleon Hill was definitely way before his time. I can see why this book was kept hidden for over 50 years. The information he imparts even now can be considered "new age" and yet, it's so full of depth and simplicity at the same time. What I loved most is the way it made me think and reconsider some of my beliefs and outlooks on fear, failure, and becoming definitive purpose. There's a plethora of valuable information, I'm listening to it again and again. Thank gawd for Audible books!

What other book might you compare Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil to and why?

Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach because both inspire me to review my thinking and beliefs about life.

What about Dan John Miller and Phil Gigante ’s performance did you like?

The voice of the Devil and Napoleon hill were fabulous.

Outstanding book if you can get through the commentary

Another classic from Napoleon Hill. Excellent read and listen. You will have to be open to a different perspective in order to get the most from this book. Only negative about the book is the interruptions with the commentary as other reviewers have mentioned. It would be great if the commentary was announced so you could mentally prepare for the shift from Napoleon to Sharon. Overall well worth the read and/or listen.

Needless interruptions

Just as you are beginning to be able to concentrate on this tremendous text, a woman interrupts like a fifth grade school teacher and asks the silliest of questions. The premise of the book is thinking for yourself. Her incessant interruptions keep asking the listener how he feels. The interruptions are distracting beyond belief. I have never listened to an audiobook in which an editor interjects inane commentary. I hope to be able to find a recording of this book without the needless chitchat.
