Publisher's summary

One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books and blogs.

I was right.

Is there a scientific explanation for this?

As I sought understanding, I found a plethora of scientific studies that had answers, with nobody to interpret them correctly. Based on the science - which you'll find peppered throughout Mini Habits - we've been doing it all wrong.

You can succeed without the guilt, intimidation, and repeated failure associated with such strategies as "getting motivated," New Year's Resolutions, or even "just doing it." In fact, you need to stop using those strategies if they aren't giving you great results. They don't work because they all require you to fight against your subconscious brain (a fight not easily won). It's only when you start playing by your brain's rules and taking your human limitations seriously--as mini habits show you how to do - that you can achieve lasting change.

Easy to follow suggestions for goal setting

I found the information and suggestions provided in this book informative and very doable. I did enjoy the way it was narrated; found it quite amusing rather than annoying as some listeners commented.

Practical, practical, practical

If you're extremely busy and want to achieve goals but are too overwhelmed to make huge strides (like we all want to do), listen to this book. One of the first "how to books" that helps one keep focused on building and succeeding.

Life Changing

This audio book was the missing link in my daily planning. It is short and to the point.
I am recommending to all my friends and family.

Yep - This is excellent!

I never ever write reviews, but Stephen Guise book Mini Habits and Daniel Penz narration drove me to the keyboard to express my gratitude and encourage others to listen to just one minute of this text. 219 minutes later you'll be glad you did.

Worthwhile idea

Interesting concept- so simple buy effective. I have yet to see if it works for long term habit changes, but I am excited to give it a shot.

Great idea

I have been trying the mini habits only a few days so cannot speak of long term success yet. However it's a well-written book with logic and real-life experiences on its side. It was entertaining and well-read. The narrator was very good too.

Absolute Must Read

Prior to listening to this audiobook, I had actually been using this type of approach for several aspects of my life. But after completing it, I am now on a much more structured path. Loved it so much that I actually paid my 13 and 11 year old kids to listen to it (I won't say how much :)). Needless to say, I was starting to see some great results across the board after only a few days. Sometimes you need to throw out conventional wisdom around achieving goals (and parenting, for that matter) and go with a pragmatic approach that will help to drive the behaviours that will ultimately lead to happiness and success for a lifetime. Strong buy rating on this one, especially for the price...

Genuine Advice

When it comes to advice books, genuineness is hard to find. The author makes sure to point out that you may fail, and that’s ok, just get up and try again. Definitely motivated to make “mini” changes in my life.

Awesome Approach to Achieving Your Goals!

I've been an executive coach for over 20 years, and this is the best system I've seen for helping people overcome resistance and start taking action. If you've ever had trouble getting started or sticking with your goals give it a try. It certainly works for me and my clients.
