Mindfulness awareness creates scientifically recognized enhancements in our mental functions and interpersonal relationships. But how can we integrate this information into our personal or professional lives? In the Mindfulness and the Brain audio learning course, Jack Kornfield, PhD, and Daniel Siegel, MD, offer theoretical and experiential teachings on the power of inner transformation and the cultivation of a wise and loving heart.

For the nerds-at-heart, this book takes the spiritual experience of meditation and puts it into scientific terms to explain the HOWs and WHYs of the benefits of meditation. Hits the SPOT for me! Truly rich in explanation and execution. I have become a devoted fan of Jack Kornfield and Dan Siegel after this book. I would recommend that you have some background about how the brain works (such as by reading Your Brain at Work by David Rock) and some experience with meditation (Any form will do) to get the full impact of how much this book puts into context.
Awesome! Have given it to 3 other people as gifts.
Its a relaxing positive listen. The intersection of science and spirituality is fascinating - spiritual practice actually changes your brain. Who woulda thunk it.
Ends somewhat abruptly which made me wonder if the full recording was captured.
scientific meditation methodology
P.S. its hot down here !
Their voices are so pleasant to hear .
how to use the mindfulness practice effectively to improve focus
I am sorry, I never got to Dr. Siegel whose Mindsight I have enjoyed and whose other works are well reviewed. Jack Kornfield is well respected within his circle but covers his introduction to the Mindfulness message with so much political, religious, and otherwise opinionated thinking that I could not get past the first twenty minutes.
