Marriage expert Dr. Ray Guarendi has counseled enough couples to know that building a better relationship with your spouse doesn't mean learning exotic new communication techniques or rearranging your lifestyle. In fact, a few of his 10 "small steps" are lessons you learned in grade school, such as: say "I'm sorry"; listen a minute; make a list; use your manners. Plus, with his "resistance rationales," Doctor Ray helps you overcome any reluctance you might feel to taking these small steps. Filled with straightforward advice, this book reminds you that a happier, more rewarding marriage is just a few small steps away.

Initially I had to get used to his voice but after that he did a great job of expressing his points in the form of examples.
Anyone that is married should read this book. It's straight to the point and makes a lot of sense. If your marriage is in trouble I definitely think that Dr. Guarendi gives great pointers to get you back on track.Silent & Listen have the same letters...that really stuck with me.
All of the small steps were awesome but if I had to choose one it would be to touch more, even with my kids.
I loved this book and marriage doesn't come with instructions and it is not easy. This is a no nonsense good solid approach to marriage and how to handle the stuff that comes up. The author is a character but his enthusiasm for the subject is endearing...
