In December of 2011, I gave a talk to an audience of scientists, Pentagon officials, politicians, and CEOs on the secret of life and how I'd figured it out the previous summer. Afterward, people came up individually and told me how much what I'd shared meant to them. This book is based on the truth I spoke about. It's something I learned from within myself, something I believed saved me. And more than that, the way I set about to do it.
This is a collection of thoughts on what I learned, what worked, what didn't. Where I succeed and importantly, where I fail daily. The truth is to love yourself with the same intensity you would use to pull yourself up if you were hanging off a cliff with your fingers. As if your life depended upon it. Once you get going, it's not hard to do. Just takes commitment and I'll share how I did it.
It's been transformative for me. I know it will be transformative for you as well.

I've read -- and practiced what I've learned from -- hundreds of self help and spiritual books. This one struck a nerve deep inside me. Such a simple message, but so poignant in its delivery. I will listen to this again and again. I so hope he records his other books...it sounds like he's sitting on the couch talking directly to me. No woo-woo nonsense, no hackneyed old goal setting and uber efforting. Just a simple message that makes clear the answer to all our problems...loving ourselves. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
Yes, it gets back to basics and to the root of what we need to remember to live magical lives that contribute to ourselves and all others around.
"Live Your Truth" Kamal's second book. Same style, simple, easy flow, to the point.
The quality is great and Kamal has a very sweet voice.
What I like most about the book is the guts of the writer who is an entrepreneur in Sillicon Valley, a person we would not expect to come out and talk about love. A paradigm shift of sorts, and a brave one!
Kamal has been on the floor, sick and bordering death. It was then, at the darkest hour, that he had an epiphany and this book is born out of it. I read it and felt the love flowing through me, the importance of the message, the necessity of it right now, in my life.
I was taken aback by the the cover, but upon a second look I noticed that in this time of insanity we are living, where we constantly leave the mind unchecked and believe anything it says to be true, a time where contemplation and stillness are rare, loving ourselves is indeed necessary because our life does depend on it.
What a waste of an hour of my time. Okay, I get it; we should love ourselves. And the only bit of instruction is to sit down for 7 minutes a day listening to a song you like telling yourself you love you. How long did it take you to read that last sentence, because that's how long this book should have been.59 minutes of filler.
No, it hasn't turned me off, but it did made me feel duped.
He's got a good speaking voice. I have nothing against his performance.
Everything before and after he says, "Love Yourself." The rest of it was filler.
I am a 46 year old guy that desires to become a successful Life Coach. I have listened to 201 self help books since 2009. All want to tell you the same thing over and over. However, the one key element that they all seem to leave out is learning how to love yourself. They skip over the importance of this one key element. This book is perfectly titled, Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It. Your life does depend on learning to honestly and unconditionally loving yourself. Without loving yourself nothing else in life will matter. One can not do something for others until he/she learns to do it themselves. You cannot give away something you do not own. If you don't learn to love yourself you can never ever love anyone or anything else. I am at the bottom of the barrel right now in life. I hate life, I hate myself and I don't see anything positive. However, when I listen to this book I get a glimpse of hope. I feel something I don't normally feel. This book lets me know there is a better life and that it is worth living. I have committed to listening to this book every day until I learn to love myself and appreciate all the wonderful gifts life has blessed me with. Allow Kamal to share with you his gift of love and his knowledge about learning to love yourself. If you do I truly believe you too will learn how to not only love yourself but every gift life has given you too.
Just tell yourself, "I love myself, I love myself, I love myself", about 10,000 times over and publish. Anyone who has to repeat that to themselves constantly does NOT live themselves. Sheesh! I was really hoping for some actual self actualizing insight, but this book fails. This guy comes across as extremely fragile. It made my head hurt! Did not care for this book at all.
I do not understand the poor reviews of this book. It was a pearl. I am very picky about narrators and I LOVED that it was performed by the author. He was humble, heartfelt and displayed a vulnerability that can only be claimed by a Phoenix. Loved it. I'm incorporating the meditation into my Miracle Morning.
Personally I related completely, thats exactly what i look for in books. His voice very soothing and genuine.
It increased my interest on different perspectives of viewing self love.
The author takes a personal method that worked for him and shares it. After reading it, i had to buy the audio for my long daily commute . I read it non stop on a bad night. It was like having someone by your side, helping you with your emotional breakdown and guiding you to a positive outlook. I personally LOVED it.
Nothing at all
Would recommend it for those who are ready to change for a better.
I love the way this was read to me, I felt he was just talking to me, yes from the heart and yes to his heart. For me this was a YES moment of course, I / we must love ourselves before we can love others. Enjoy :)
The entire premise of this book comes down to you should just keep telling yourself over and over and over again that you love yourself. Literally. This is not self-help, self-development, or anything akin to value. It's an author who took a ridiculous whiny essay and built a social media and online campaign (including Audible reviews, it appears) to sell this thing to a lot of people (stupid me!) for almost $3. Lesson learned. Simply awful.
rings true from the most fundamental place of my being. yes. thank you, kamal. I'll be joining you in the stratosphere and can't wait. see you soon!
I have already began a journey to self love, after suffering with depression since my teenage years (I'm now 23) this year I decided to love myself more than any other.
This audio took my breath away and I cried a lot for the right reasons. I've been the girl that attends the seminars, reads all the books trying to fill myself up with all the knowledge possible to combat my negative self talk. It has tremendously helped over the years but the concept in this book is so simple. Oh if only I'd have known it was that simple years ago!
Alas, this book came in the my life and the exact precise time it needed to. I have practiced it yet but I KNOW this practice will change my life.
Thank you Kamal!
Such a good read for such a short book, well worth the price
He describes a picture of despair that felt so native to me and then explains how he got out of it. Some great tips that I have brought into my life with good results so far!
Listened to this in one go
"Short and sweet"
I loved this book because it was short but powerful. It conveys a really important message that everyone should hear about. I have recommended it to several people now. If you struggle with self doubt or self criticism, read this book!
A little gem of a book narrated beautifully :) Will be something I will re read.
"Good for the money and time listening"
It's a good book for the money and time you spend listen to it it's worth giving it a go but don't expect anything to ground breaking. Spends a bit much time talking about himself.
"So simple it is brilliant"
This short book might just be life changing, it certainly contains some very deep insights. But they are oxymorons in a sense that they are so simple to put into practice despite being profound. I really enjoyed this and would recommend.
"Beautiful in its simplicity"
Similar books make a point and then go round the houses to seemingly pad out the run time. Whereas this is in and out: tells you what he thinks, then bids adieu. Strongly recommend.
Everything just clicked can't thank you enough - I am moving forward and loving it for the first time in my 49 years on earth
"Simple and profound"
This is a simple story, told directly. I liked how immediately applicable it is. He says what he has to say and that's it; and it's totally do-able.
Honest, straightforward and helpful. A book with one simple message of love and the method of get there. I will read it over and over again.
