"One of the best books on the topic." (Money)
No one wants to think about needing long term care for self or loved one, but reality cannot be escaped. I have worked in this environment as an RN, and have seen first-hand the devastation that can befall a family. While my perspective varies from that of the attorney who formulated and keeps updating this book, I know that the information here can smooth things for overwhelmed families. Brick and mortar facilities, as well as home care and hospice agencies have social workers available, but being aware and prepared is best for your own mental health as well as your pocket book. This book will be an invaluable asset to you if you apply the knowledge gained.
Be aware, however, that this book is aimed to the needs of older individuals.
Narrator Jack has a clear, well-modulated speaking voice with clear enunciation which enhances the material presented by the author.
I received this audio book in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. This book is about everything we need to know about our care and well being as we get old. Here we learn about what medicare does and doesn't cover and when. We learn about VA care (Veterans) and we learn about guardianship. We learn about doing wills, about our assets and power of attorney. All about nursing homes and other options, along with Hospice and when we qualify. This book is quite interesting and inform-able. I always though medicare took care of us when we got old, but not true. It covers, different types of medicare and medicaid. Personally, I think we all need to read this book.
The author, Joseph L Matthews did a really good job on his research for this coverage. It is written in such a way that it held my interest (maybe because it is around the corner). The narrator, Jack Chekijian did a good job reading this book to us flawlessly and accurately. Mr Chekijian has a smooth , easy on the ears voice. Good job Guys!
No, I feel like I've learned what I can by listening. If I need to reference the information, it would be easier to find in hard copy.
I guess I never gave too much thought about the many types of long term care that are available, and the huge differences in costs.
There is a ton of helpful information here, so there weren't any scenes.
No, nine hours is a very long time to listen to a reference book! I listened an hour at a time in order to digest the information.
This information was well-presented by the author, and easy to listen to and absorb, thanks to a wonderful narration. It made a lot of sense and contained tons of information, which I took notes on. There are also PDF files available on the audible page, for further reference.
