I didn't know I needed this book until I listened!

Wow, this book took me by surprise, and I did not even know just how much it would apply toward my life until I listened to it. On and off in my life, I have experienced unhappiness, and I have not been able to identify the reasons why, but this book gave me a lot to think about. I think I have a place to start now to free myself from negative emotions and feelings.

This book is about letting go of pointless, harmful attachments in our lives that can cause stress, anxiety, or unhappiness, and help you to become free of negativity. For example, many people care too much about the way that they look, which is something that is out of our control, especially as we get older. By letting go of this pointless need, people will be less likely to let things like acne or a new wrinkle on their skin to make them unhappy. Similarly, by letting go of the need to have everyone like us, we eliminate frustration when they do not since we cannot control other people's perceptions.

The ideas in this book draw heavily from Eastern culture such as Buddhism, but the author makes it clear that these ideas are applicable to everyday life, and you need not be a Buddhist or change your religion to apply this philosophy toward your life.

The narration was great also. I have listened to Allyson Voller before, and I am a fan (at least for her nonfiction works. I have not heard any fiction from her, so I do not know what her voice range is like). She speaks clearly and her pacing was perfect. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, and this will be an audiobook that would benefit from multiple listening. I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Remarkable Book about Mindfulness and Acceptance

I absolutely loved this remarkable book about that teaching Letting go using Mindfulness and acceptance strategies. I found that this book was just the right length. Brief so that one might listen to it in just an afternoon, but sufficient that the same individual might gain a good understanding of the what it takes to let go of the past, and begin living in the present. The book shares the basics of mediation and mindfulness strategies, just enough to get you started on your path to wellness and happiness. I have already listened to this book twice. It is absolutely a book that I would recommend to my clients (I am a mental health counselor.)

The narration was excellent. The second time I listened to this book, I listened to this on 2x and had no problem understanding or following what was said. The prosody and flow of the reading was superb.

In summary, I can’t wait to ready additional books by this author.

This book was provided to me by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost, in exchange for an unbiased review.

A Nice Easy Informative Listen

Letting Go was a short but thorough overview of ways we can let go of things or baggage that we don't need. I liked the way it touched on Bhudism, meditation, and mindfulness as well as spending time doing things such as art or painting. This book had some great tips that you really can't go wrong on.

Allyson Voller's narration was good. She has a soft voice that was perfect for the book. She made this a more enjoyable listen.

Kindergarten

Perhaps I didn't pay close enough attention to the descriptions of this text but I find it quite simplistic. In addition, the narrator comes off as condescending and her periodic mispronunciation of common words is excruciating and minimizes credibility.

Letting Go

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Letting Go, by Brittany Hallison, would be enjoyed by a student who is writing a paper about letting go. It is more a list of ways to let go, than a boo, that can be read/

Would you ever listen to anything by Brittany Hallison again?

I don't think this is meant to be listened to. This book is more to study.

What about Allyson Voller’s performance did you like?

Her voice is pleasant.
