Publisher's summary

Joe Ehrmann, a former NFL standout, is a dynamic motivational speaker and seminar leader, addressing audiences nationwide about the unparalleled platform, power, and position coaches have to transform their players' lives and impact families, schools, and communities. Recognized for his revolutionary concepts of teambuilding, mentoring, and coaching, he was named one of the "100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America" by the Institute for International Sport.

Ehrmann's coaching philosophy was described by Jeffrey Marx in the New York Times best seller Season of Life, and since the publication of that book, thousands of coaches have looked to Joe for advice about putting his philosophy into practice. InSideOut Coaching provides the critical information and tools they've been waiting for - the information to help coaches everywhere create more meaningful experiences for themselves and to maximize their impact on the lives of the athletes they coach.

Critic reviews

"Ehrmann's guidebook is full of wise, practical words that should replace the old 'winning at all cost' adage." ( Publishers Weekly)

Less Coaching, More Biography

Honestly, it was a great biography. There were important spiritual principles and moments of personal growth. The story was compelling and it stirred strong emotions, as well as a desire to be a better person and coach.

But... it was less about being that coach and how to impact through being a coach than I would have liked.

If you are interested in the author and his journey, it's a great listen. If you want coaching tools, this isn't the audiobook I'd recommend.

A must read for any coach

This book gets to the heart and head of what it means to Coach - especially coach youth and/or high school sports. It is a process and a journey that all coaches should be required to hear. I long to be a transformational - not transactional coach.

Great book, but hard to hear the narrator

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Nothing the narrator himself could have done - his voice is just hard for me to hear when driving in a car.

Any additional comments?

Just a great book at what coaching should be about.

It's unlike any other coaching book I've ever read before. A must-read for anyone looking to be in a leadership role of any kind.

Important for All Leaders, Not Just Athletic Coaches

This book is important for any leader to read, not merely athletic coaches. While the world of athletics is the context for the book, the author’s perspectives are critical for every leader to understand. They match up with recently published research that has shown that 77% of leadership effectiveness comes from how Inwardly Sound and Others Focused leaders are. These are the types of qualities that the author repeatedly notes as essential to coaching.

Heartfelt Memoir

Love Joe's offering. He really opened up and made himself vulnerable.

Horrible narration though. Sounded like a robot.

A volleyball coach from New Mexico

I was absolutely blow away by this book. I have been trying to validate why I felt so empty as a coach. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of these young ladies God had entrusted me with and I had no idea how. I was a product of many “transactional” coaches. I cant even remember any of their names. I have been praying for many years to have a great coach in our school that put God first and would be able to help the young people grow more than just on the court. I never would have believed that He would use me. This is my second year coaching and I still have a lot to learn. I was so grateful to have a friend of mine tell me about another book called, “ The Energy Bus” and that book pointed me back to this one. This is definitely one I will be reading again. I want to use my platform to help these young ladies be more than athletes but I want to see them be great mom’s and wives and friends. I want them to encourage and grow all the time. I know it will be many years before I see that come to pass but I have a goal now and that is worth the wait. Thank you so much for writing this book. It has defiantly transformed my thinking on coaching as much as it has a mom of 2 boys. One a football player and other a basketball player. Thanks again!!
