This workshop explores how abuse and neglect impact the typical development of children. Specific solutions are offered for foster and adoptive parents to enable them to care for children who have been affected by poor or abusive early environments. This is an excellent introduction for prospective or new foster and adoptive parents and professionals. Accompanying handouts are available on http://nysccc.org/conference/conference-archives.

Meet them where they are.

It is true that the format is not perfect, but the presenter is very good and on point. I do wish there were more examples of how to meet children where they are because of the developmental delays that abuse and neglect have created. And perhaps giving examples of types of help people can ask for, although i think she was presenting to social workers, so they were aware of service she was talking about. It was a worth my time.

Not good format

Couple good points but could have been summarized what we got from it in 5 min. There are periods of time the main speaker refers to the audience and is not speaking that you can't hear. And can't hear any feedback or questions from the audience
