I am an avid eclectic reader.
I guess this could be classified as a self help book; if so, it is not typical of the genre. This is my first book by Whoopi Goldberg and she narrated it herself. I was unaware that Whoopi has written a number of books. The book is about relationships. Whoopi says she hopes that readers won’t make the same mistakes she did or have to learn the hard way why a relationship is not working. She also says people should have a prenup so everyone is on the same page about finances.
The information is common sense but Whoopi is very frank and hilarious. I think she is a great story teller and a fantastic narrator. I hope in the future she does more narration of books, she is a natural. I also learned that Whoopi is a big fan of audiobooks and is a regular listener. This make a great fun book to listen to and I laughed throughout the book. This is a short book at a little over four hours.
This was so good, I listened all the way through. I love Whoopi!!! I was sad when it was over because it was so informative, real and honest. She tells the truth, there is not one person that would not benefit from the advice she gives. I got so much, I feel new and ready to start fresh with a new perspective. She will make you think, make you laugh and make think some more. I will probably listen to this again and again bc it's so much to gain. I recommend grabbing a pen and paper. Take notes!
Open, honest and humorous.
Whoopi, of course, though "character" doesn't apply here except that most of this book is a revelation of her own character, her own insights.
Loved Whoopi from the first time I saw her perform. She is a genuine, down to earth gal, and funny as heck. Whoopi's big heart and sharp mind come across clear as sunshine, as she narrates her thoughts on relationships. As I listened, I felt like Whoopi was talking to me, not reading aloud. Great job, Whoopi!
This book isn't movie material. It could be filmed as a course of study. I'd use the same title that Whoopi gave to her book.
I have reached the point in my own life where being single is something that I celebrate. Whoopi, in her own way and for her own reasons, has come to a similar conclusion. But there is a whole lot more in this book than Whoopi's satisfaction with living on her own. She has learned a great deal from her own decades of experiences, and more from observing the lives of others. I appreciated Whoopi's honest, open approach to the topics in her book. I also appreciated her acceptance of people's differences when it comes to what they need, what they want, and what they are willing to give when it comes to relationships. And, of course, the narrator was the perfect choice! I soaked up this book quickly and am already halfway through my second listen. This has been one of my most enjoyable, thought-provoking Audible experiences.
Have always loved books and I find that as I have gotten older I find this way more enjoyable then listening to the radio.
I would 100% recommend this book, because the points she makes, way to many people won't talk about what they want or want they deserve, in a relationship or in the bedroom, because of this they seem surprised when things are not perfect, a great gift for someone who needs to open there eye's
my 1st whoopi auto book
I believe that whoopi at this age knows somethings and it's because of not only what she has been through but what she has seen and what have you, also the more important thing is to be honest
thank u whoopi for writing this
I had my daughters read it too. it was like looking back at my life .Even my husband wanted to read it . I had to think about that I didn't want him to figure out that I wasn't Cinderella and he wasn't prince charming. we had each other fooled thanks Whoopi
Whoppie Goldberg delves into the thoughts and minds of all of us who've ever been in any type of relationship. The most enjoyable audiobook I've experienced hearing. I felt as if she was in my household, my mind, as well as my heart. Fabulous!
I didn't really love anything about the book...Other then the narration done by Whoopi. Don't get me wrong I liked it I just didn't love it.
I chuckled in a few places.
Seriously believe the title, because this book is really about relationships. So if you're looking for funny Whoopi ( although she does have her moments ) I'd keep looking. Now if you are interested in what Ms Goldberg has to say on relationships, this is the book for you.
Whoopi's performance was stellar and she passes along some valuable pearls of wisdom especially for those feeling single-shamed. I really appreciated her message. The only thing I hated was the cursing and f-bomb dropping. W is an intelligent, articulate, extremely talented pro! If the content wasn't as good as it was, I would have dropped off. A sprinkling here and there, all fine; but it was too excessive for such a ++++ message.
Greedy, voracious reader since age five. After a number of eye injuries & surgeries, reading is hard. So now, I listen.
I love Whoopi. She's funny. Good actress. She loves weed. She must have been ripped when she wrote this book. Rambling, disjointed, repetitive, pointless, and did I mention repetitive? I'll bet she couldn't stop giggling for the whole hour it took to write this.
