I love this audio. Jim Rohn demystifies the craft of journaling in a way that resonated with me on a logical and emotional level. everyone should hear this audio.
This audio book does give one a sense of direction and purpose for starting a Journal. It has given me a great foundation to continue with my journal.
I love good books.
Listening to Rohn is always a pleasure. Very informative and to the point. Inspired me to buy a new journal and start afresh and with new purpose in mind.
I will boil it down to its basic elements.
Always have a notebook & pen nearby. Then write in it. That's it. The rest is details, like don't write your grocery list, write big ideas like a why you want to change your diet or try a new type of food or...
Jim does a good job telling you what to and not to write in it. He gets side tracked and such but comes back to the point, just do it; carry the notebook everywhere then write when you have idea.
If you think you need a fancy book go for it. If you think you need a fancy filing system you don't. Just leave the first couple pages blank, when you fill it up go back and write in an index.
Ok back to my journal.
It has the power to get you started in journal writing. It will give you many ideas and at the same time tell you it (your journal) doesn't have to be perfect or technically correct. No one is going to judge you for it. More importantly, Jim also tells you to immerse in life for all its glory, joy, happiness and sorrow and learn from your defeats. Write everything down and review it frequently. It certainly makes a very good case for creating and maintaining the habit of writing a journal very effectively. If you are looking for inspiration to start writing your own journal then this is certainly the lecture to listen to.
The ideas on how to use a journal
Jim Rohn's story of other's reactions to him taking notes at Church
The man himself. Jim Rohn
It's just a guide. Wouldn't be good for a film
I've always found it hard to make a habit of journaling as well as to what to put in it. The more I listen to it the more I journal. Jim Rohn gives great advice and ideas of how to use one.
Personally, I have really enjoyed this audio book. This is a book I would not have purchased as a print version.
I found that many of the suggestions given in this book are habits I've used fitfully over the years. In truth, I've only taken up my journal in the last decade or so. I started by using it as a tool for emotional healing. To this end, I have used them for poetry, wish lists and jotting down the odd idea that comes to me. In many ways, my journal has seen me through many hard times. Through my journal I've been able to record the good times and precious moments. Those entries have enabled me to remember that life is not all bad.
The main reason why I found your audio book so good was because it highlights a great many positive ways to use a Journal. You give examples and suggestions that most anyone could understand. But the one point that stood out for me, was how you personalized the journal with the comment on taking the time to find one that suits you best. For that alone I would like to thank you.
My son's tend to believe I'm too fussy when I'm looking for a book to write in. I have not been able to make them understand how important it is to actually like what I'm writing in. From now on I will keep searching for the book that feels and looks good to me.
Thank you for all the ideas you have shared in your book. The straight forward way you spoke helped get your message across in a positive way. This is a book I would not hesitate to share with my family.
"Short but useful"
Jim Rohn has some far lengthier programs available, and this is focused only on journals, but but what a difference writing one makes. I have begun mine again after listening to this, because Jim is so persuasive in selling you the benefits of keeping a notebook with you all the time. A diary/ideas book helps give your life meaning and direction, and you become far clearer about your goals and motivations by writing one.
Anyone who has kept one in the past and needs persuading to get back in the habit of writing again will benefit from this tape.
