Might be OK with different narrators

The authors are narrating and their voices are so monotone and boring that I couldn't listen. Maybe the printed book would be better for this one.

The authors are terrible at narration!

What would have made How to Talk So Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk better?

Use the book for facts and helpful advice rather than a play by play story of their visit to a high school to give a workshop. Hire professional narrator, the authors are terrible at narrating. To get the best info, just read their How to Talk so Teens will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk

What do you think your next listen will be?

I will try another book by this author as long as they are not the narrator!

How could the performance have been better?

Get a professional narrator and use facts rather than stories.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from How to Talk So Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk?

The book is written like a play in which the author reads all characters but in different annoying voices.

Any additional comments?

I could not take another minute of listening to the author narrate the book. I returned the audio for my money back.

What year is it?

I'm 50 and this was like listening to my grandmother talking about pre-teens. Might be better with different vocals and a timely refresh.

Terrible Narration and Outdated Stories

I really wanted to like this book and find good insight for dealing with my older teens. After the first twenty minutes of listening, I wanted to turn it off because the narrators were doing a terrible job. Their voices for other roles, both parents and teens, was completely unbelievable and the example stories they gave were woefully outdated. Worse than that, the quick resolution of how to handle various scenarios was laughable. The authors' general advice is sound, but so out of date. Will continue searching for better, more contemporary books in this genre.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this book in any form.

Fantastic!

Wonderful insight and guidance. I really enjoyed and appreciated how she viewed both parents and teens perspectives. I highly recommend this if you have, or will soon have, teens.

A good listen

I would recommend this for any parents with teens to help with the issues we face and to learn to be able to talk and engage with them differently

Very helpful advice.

I really enjoyed the suggestions in this book. These suggestion helped to enlighten me in seeing the difficult situations that arise with teens from their point of view. I cringed listening to the scenarios that were played out and how these parents reacted, because I had similar reactions in handling my teen. I was comforted in that I wasn't the only one thinking along these same lines. These tools presented in speaking with teens and seeing things thru their eyes make me feel better equipped to handle situations going forward. Thank you Adele and Elaine.

Good info kind of cheesy presentation

I thought I hated the format of the book, with the "story" of the meetings and the people...I thought it was really cheesy. However, I must say I felt there was great info in the book, and I am going to listen to it a second time to really get all the concepts that I can then put into action. I do feel the info learned here is valid and will be helpful. In addition I read "if I have to tell you one more time" and it melds nice with this book. Same type of principles, but with more action plan specifics. I think the two together will really benefit my parenting.

Incredibly helpful!

Love all of the How to Talk books and Siblings Without Rivalry too! My 10 year old twin girls have responded wonderfully to these techniques!
