Very good examples on how to talk to teens

I don’t have kids, but most of my friends do. I wanted to tap on right ways to talk to them.

Beautifully narrated, very helpful and clear examples of good and bad ways both, parents and teens communicate.

I will listen to it over and over until speaking like this, becomes my way of expressing myself. ;P

wish I had read this years ago

extremely valuable advice which I wish I had learned earlier. I wasn't a terrible parent but I could have been a lot better had I known these skills. but I learned them now and I'm putting them into practice now and my grown-up children are appreciative of it

Great listen, advice that can be applied easily on a daily basis, we don’t have to have all our ducks inline to apply this books advice.

Helpful

My 13 year old walked in the room while listening to this. I tested some of the suggested verbiage and to my surprise it worked. I got feed back from my child. He actually gave me an answer. I was expecting the same reaction I always get ( short non-informational responses). Not only that but he returned a while later and set down for a small chat. WOW is all I can say.
Can’t wait to apply this in our everyday conversations. I hope this is a break through, I really think my child wants to communicate but my approach always left off with him not speaking because I was so direct with my thoughts feels and wants ( I gave life lessons and leachers) then would say what you you think? I gave him no room to think, he already know where I stood and felt no need to give his opinion. I see this now.

Insightful and informative!

A must read/ listen for every parent of teen(s). Listen and take action! Our babies need us to be equipped and willing to wade into the deep with them to help them navigate their worlds. This book helps immensely.

What did you like best about How to Talk So Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk? What did you like least?

I work with teen girls so I thought this book would be helpful for work. The book has some good points and good practices for talking to teens. This stuff should be common scence, but it is not.
